The frame in that area is thick enough to do it with a stick welder, I did mine a few years ago and had a fella machine me up some nice thick wall cups. For the cost of buying or renting a welder, I am sure you will be able to find someone with a welder to do the job far cheaper, especially if you do all the prep work. You'll be surprised how much nicer it handles afterward! If the other parts are still in good shape, I don't see why you couldn't replace just the one piece. Looks like you'll need a new gasket for where that pipe meets the resonator, and you may end up needing new bolts too (check beforehand and see if they have any interest in coming loose). Might as well pick up the gaskets for both sides in case you need to drop the muffler assembly down a little to weld over the top where the pipe meets the muffler.1 point

Hahaha Canadian speed holes. Haven’t heard that before but definitely using it. That’s the first carrier I’ve seen at yard in forever. They seem hard to come by too from this forum.1 point

It needs some TLC but I am thrilled with my new Pathy. I haven't had a four wheel drive in awhile and I really missed it. It's good to be back in the saddle. Even better, it's a Nissan.1 point
