  2. Knocked out about 560 miles round trip on a long drive down to the Columbia River Gorge. Kicked it around Hood River before heading up into the mountains on the Washington side to camp for the night. Dropped down to 34*F overnight, ouch! It'll be nice when the weather warms up. Here you can see the high-tech branch deflection device I turned my fold out table into. The path to this campsite was covered in lots of low hanging branches and they were getting caught on my new bag. The rest of the car is definitely SCRATCH CITY, but that's what I got it for! And next to a modern Pathfinder- Got home and had to pressure wash the mud off! One of the puddles I splashed through must have had a bunch of horse manure in it...

  3. Just to add a little justification for the cost, even building your own kit isn’t cheap. I just added up what it would cost me to replicate everything on my truck as it currently sits, and it’s right around $600 that I have in it. That not only includes the material to fabricate the sfd components, but also the front and rear HD springs, extended shocks, limit straps, etc.. Once you factor in the labor time to fabricate the kit, and the fact that there needs to be enough profit to make it worth your while, there is a good reason that it isn’t cheap to buy a good pre-made sfd kit. If you’re not trying to make a profit, have the means, and just want to make a kit for your personal rig, then the DIY approach definitely saves some money. This also makes a good argument for waiting for the upcoming “pines to spines” kit. As I understand it, they are making the components modular, so if budget is a concern you can start with getting the parts for a mild lift, and then “grow into” bigger lifts later on by adding onto the basic kit. Correct me if I’m wrong on that....

  5. So... After already starting a topic or 2 I thought I'd just start documenting all of the madness of trying to pull a Frankenstein. This will certainly test my patience but I'm all in on this project and it's just due to boredom and sentiment. My parents had a '93 hardbody and a '96 R50 so I wanted to buy one to fool around with but ended up buying 2 of them in need of major TLC instead. It's going to be slow and steady but I can be long winded so read on with a grain or 2 of salt. The first two topics are: And I've already had a handful of issues and really haven't documented a whole lot but I'm going to try to start from my current position and hopefully get help where needed. You'll find that this is truly a rescue thread more than a build because there are sooooo many things that need work. Anyway, I'm off like a herd of turtles. I'll post a few pics tomorrow and cover where I'm at with this project. Thanks to all in advance for your patience.

  6. Fine in terms of rattling the doors or pillars. only problems I’ve had was with rattle in the oem speaker mounts on the rear doors. Now, that being said, i run two twelve inch subwoofers in a portedd box in the back. That rattles the car at certain volumes, but I don’t think the door speakers or the tweeters have added any rattles. I turn up the volume to full blast and there’s no distortion or rattling. If they do somehow rattle just add a little sound deadening, wether it be cut up cloth in the speaker mount (my rear door lol), or something nice like dynamat

  7. I knotched my corssmember a little bit to clear the DS, but then again i have a different setup than just a 6" sfd. As far as building them goes, unless you have a superior design to the one that's coming out soon, id recommend straying from the market. In my experience, 1 out of the 50 people that messages you and says they are definitely interested in buying and will do so soon, will actually buy. Be weary when taking a poll, because you'll get lots of interest, but hardly anyone follows through. I believe this is because these kits run a good amount of money (a full sfd is going to run around 1000$+) and generally people who drive pathfinders do so for a reason (because they are probably on a budget and the car fit the budget).

  8. Good choice, this was my first upgrade. For fitment specs, crutchfield.com will be able to give you a list of all the speakers that fit in your car. I do not run an aftermarket amp, just aftermarket stereo. I bypassed the factory amps that come with the bose system. I have a set of rockford fosgate component speakers for my front doors and the tweeters on the pillars. The door and tweeter are connected with a crossover, etc etc. It sounds pretty good imo, although an amp would maybe get the most out of my system. Either way, I'm fine as is- its way better than stock.

  10. Little project I wrapped up today, got some scene lights and spot lights for the rack. Got the lights off of Amazon as they work for my needs and if I ever want to upgrade to a brighter spot light I can always do so in the future but it works pretty well for the price. The spots are Auxbeam brand and the side lights are Kalwell I believe. Ran the wiring through the superstrut channel crossbar I made and down the A pillar underneath the weatherstrip. I have 360° lighting and will come handy whether camping, in a parking lot or just to see everywhere in a dark area. Some of the pictures are with the normal headlights and then the lightbar and spot lights, then looking to the side without and with the side lights on. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

  11. It’s awesome that your SFD’s will now be an improvement on the standard design with changeable lift heights! On the topic of ground clearance, I think @deltaR50 has a 1” spacer and 4” strut spacers on a 4” SFD, so there’s clearly a lot of variance to be had in combining suspension lifts with different SFD’s depending on the desired height/affect.

  12. Took a 99% amazing trip to Afton Canyon, the Mojave Lava Tubes, Kelso Dunes, and the Calico Hills. Mostly wonderful, exploring the Mojave Road and other trails nearby. Did bite off a bit more than I could chew doing the water crossing at Afton (P0130 and P01325 codes came right up), and may have overdid it on the clutch trying a slightly too difficult section of road in Calico. Looks like I have some more work to do on Hermon!
