So,

For those of you you read my last topic. This one is for the exhaust alone. It will have to be changed on my 01 Pathfinder SE. From the CAT back.. so just the back part. Where it connects to the other part is completely rusted out and broken. Took it to a local shop today and they said we could try and fix it... But no gurantees. I think I should just get a new one and get it over with. Any recommendations?

Get a new one, but not from the dealer unless you do not mind spending, what was in your other post, $800? Ouch. Gas leakes into the truck can be deadly.

I have had good luck wiyh our local tire shop, they do a good job. I do not expect an exahust sytem to last anyone's "lifetime", so those types of places I stay away from.

I had a local shop do my 88 several years ago... it was $200.

Check around, there are smaller shops that will want your business way more than the stealership.... They are an option of last resort.

Ditto to all the above and go with a a local muffler shop. $250 will get you stainless oversized pipes, magnaflow muffler and a chrome exhaust tip. Maybe new hangers also... ;)

Yes, year/make/model and they should be able to ball park it fairly well. Tell them what you want, not just what can they do... They'll still want to see it though, but as you are basically stock, it shouldn't change much.

Yes, and if possible, tell them what you want, as opposed to "what can you do for me?" Having a desired goal seems to help vs. "please rape me, I have no clue."

What do the R50 guys have to say for the desired exhaust size?

Seems clear enough to me that I will not be going with any chain. Their pricing is just ridiculous.

Monro - $800

Meineke - $457

I will be going to this local small shop by me called C'S Auto Custom Exhaust.

They sound descent over the phone but want to get an idea of what pricing I should expect. After a lot of reading I think the 2.5" Aluminized from the cat back with a flowmaster 40. I want to make sure that when he gives me a pricing I can tell if its fair or not.

So I went to a custom shop recommended to me by a neighbor. He gave me two pricing options:

Aluminum: $350 muffler and all work included...

Stainless Steel: $460 again everything included.

He charges $50 more if I want it to be welded on instead of clamped on. Shooting more for the weld and shooting more for the SS.

Thoughts?

I think the pricing is fair. And considering that if I do not take this pricing I will have to drive to the city to try and get better pricing at the cost of ($30+)... I will jump on it.

Also remember, Meineke wants 457 for stock. Monro 800 and the dealer well you know the deal there.

Going to drop it off for the day... Laterz...

I know a couple of descent places in the Bronx which is where I used to live. You would need to deal with the language barrier though as most of them are all spanish speaking folks.
