Hey has anyone bought/used these ball joints, if so any thoughts, were they any good?

at that price I'm afraid I might get what I pay for, but if anyone else has used them with no problems they could sure save me some dinero ;)

BJ's are that cheap? (no pun intended  ;) )  -- not to thread jack, but how hard are they to replace? Seeing how I've got my front end already ripped apart anyway.

lol. you can get a hooker for a 20 around here too...

if you have the stuff apart, it's easy. top easier then the bottom if stuff is still on the truck.

I just checked autozone online (don't have a pep boys or advanced near me) and they want pretty close to Napa -- $29.99 for the upper and $42.99 for the lower.

Those little bastids are expensive! Thats upwards of $150 depending on the sales tax in your area. Course you don't have to have them shipped and you get a lifetime warranty, but still!

Guess I'll have to take a closer look @ mine to see if it REALLY needs done or not. Probably does

Probably does

oh, same kind of thing here as the cv.. if you can "pop" it then it's bad.. they maybe loose (limp) in the socket but if they don't move the other way they are good. boots are pretty close to impossible to replace (find them) so if they are thorn they are gone..

i surely don't recall paying that much a year or two ago for the uppers.. yeah the lowers were a bit more but 40+ still seems not the same..

off subject: try $60 for an air filter.. now that one sucks.. i just shake the old one out. :D

How do you know they're knackered, without them physically going boom? :D

Torn boots, packed full of non-grease like materials are a definite sign!

Functional tests: Safely Lift truck until wheel is up in the air.

Test 1) Grab top of tire with left hand. Grab bottom with right. Push in top while pulling bottom. Pull top while pushing bottom. Repeat back and forth. Any play or clunking? If so, have some one else do it while you look up in there to see if the play is in the BJ.

Test 2) Cup both hands under bottom of tire and lift forcefully and drop. Any play or clunking? Again, watch BJ's while someone else does it.

There should be NO play in the BJ. A small amount (less than 1/16") indicates time to add BJ's to the "To Do" list.

A lot of play (1/8" or more): Park that puppy before you do an expensive tricycle impression!

Rock Auto has Moog for $33 top, $43 bottom. No Sales tax. Shipping is true cost.

Moog is traditionally top notch suspension parts. Anybody have any experience with their Nissan parts?

I choose to stay well away from 'no name' import brands when it comes to heavily loaded suspension parts like ball joints. Unknown content generic pot metal just doesn't do it for me... To many metallurgy classes in college

I had moog upper ball joints in mine. They were good. The only reason I changed them was because the boots disintigrated, and they would have gone. There was no play in the joints at the time though.
