Loose Tire!

My tire is loose!

 

When driving around I hear all sorts of clunking and stuff, its my tire.

 

It is on a rack which is mounted to the side in the back on the drivers side.

 

If pictures are needed then pictures I can provide.

 

It doesnt look like I will be getting an external tire rack so I need to make sure my internal one is at 100%.

 

I just need to secure the tire to avoid all that clunking around and just make sure its as tight as can be.

Definitely get the tire/rack secured, it shouldn't be too hard. You dont need 50+ lbs comming loose in any scenario. As for the external carrier, you can make it happen, just not yesterday like you want. Sheesh, kids these days... No patience !!

Sorry TeenZ, that was out of line... You know what I mean.

What is the issue to get it tightened ? My spare is out side, so picts would help; I don't know the set up. We'll get it figured out...

Quite honestly, this is one of the silliest things I've heard all year.

 

Have you tried opening the hatch, pulling off the cover and LOOKING AT IT yet? Jeez.

why not just get a ceap piece of foam or something and pad the tire on 3 sides with it.. or.. TURN THE STEREO UP

Yeah I thought of the foam idea and I guess I will do that but I need to know what kind of foam and where I an get it.

dude-First take the cover off and make sure it is tightened all the way. If so check to make sure it is mounted securely. there are four bolts that attach the internal tire rack to the car. Take the tire off and look for them. They are a gold color. two are on the floor and two are on the interior side-for those two you need to pop off the plastic cover-use a flat head and be gentle. Also make sure the wheel is facing the right way. It should be mounted with the outside facing the interior of the car. Forget the foam there is no way it should be moving around if everything is secure. Remember to investigate first, and look for the obvious, and then ask questions if you can't figure it out. I think Ive fixed more "broken" things by finding a loose screw or connection

No, I was missing a part.

 

But my neighbor, who luckily has a shop and knows what he is doing is going to help me cut a piece of wood to help substitue for the missing piece.

 

Hopefully I will not have to deal with this for too long because I hope to have my external tire carrier installed within the next year.
