Interior Dome Light

With it on the "Door open" option (middle one) it always stays on with all the doors shut. It dims a little when their shut but that's it. The back dome light for the hatch doesn't work anymore, could that be why it doesn't turn off?

if u pull the light cover off you can see the lever that moves a flat piece of metal from one of 3 tabs the lever might not be going completly over to "on when door opens" but sticking on the "always on" so no matter where the selector is it'll be on and the way u described it it seems like it might only be touching a little bit(as if the switch got pulled down so it bent the lever on the inside so it barely touchs now)..if you can get a screwdriver up there (maybe with the battery disconnected) you can get it to the proper selection...

 

i know in mine the back light is completly on its own... i have an 87

how about the warning lamp in the dash? on or off? if off ^^^^ ; if on check the tail gate.. known item to get loose --> search

Also some times the switches for the doors and rear hatch will stick. Just check them and if they do not push in easily or are jamed up, give em some TLC(Clean out the grit and grime)

If you get the door open light flickering, then it is probably the rear hatch switch. Either move the U plate or (aaakkk) wrap it with tape. Mine behaves like that but I have everything set so no lights come on... SSSSHHH!! Stealth mode, lol.

Back dome light... maybe it is something wrong with the wiring, but have you checked the bulb ? Certainly investigate what the others have mentioned also...

hhahaha i have this problem. about a year ago i noticed the dome light always on and the open door light on. so i redid all of the rear hatch assembly. seemed to fix the problem. but them about 6 months ago it started back up. so as of know i gave up o turn of the light and when i need it i turn it on. plus i got alot of ppl the get in the car get scared cause they see theres a door open and they try to figure out which one it is and i tell then just to stay buckeld cause the doors fly open evey once in awhile. but i would look at the rear hatch and also for some reason the hood switch made my lights work right for a lil bit to. i dono if you have any question you can ask me i have spen alot of time on this
