3" Lift Running 31x10.50's?

I'm looking at suspension uprades...and it looks like the overwhelming majority of the kits provide a 3" lift. I'm $600+ into brand new tires and don't want to uprade to bigger at the moment. Does anyone have any pics of their rigs w/ a 3" lift and 31x10.5 tires? (Preferably the 88-95 body style) I'm trying to imagine it...and I'm not sure if it'll look right.

 

Anyone know of any kits w/ a 1-2" lift? I found some springs that would only raise it 2"...but I like the idea of a kit w/ all the parts included.

True...but the idea is to upgrade the suspension (idler arm braces, springs, etc). I suppose I could upgrade to "better than stock" springs and upgrade to "better than stock" idler arms and then crank the T-Bars. That's an idea...

I found some pix online w/ JCG coils and what looked like my size tires (couldn't read the walls) and it didn't look bad. I detest that big lift/little tire look. Raised that rear end noticably but didn't look awkward. I'd assume w/ same tires before & after install would mean at *most* he'd have 31's.

 

As far as what I want feel-wise compared to stock...it's hard to say because my stock setup feels a bit on the squishy side (maybe that's just PF's). More firm than that is good...but I also don't want to get teeth-chatter from Spokane's cruddy roads. I'm thinking about pairing with Rancho 9000's to get the adjustable ride since it's a multipurpose rig.

I'm not cool enough to have the 3 inch sus lift YET (key word being yet) but I do have a few pics cuz I love my Pathfinder so much!

 

A day before I bought it! 31x10.50 Lemans A/T on 15s

After I bought 31x10.50 BFGoodrich M/T on 15x8s. STILL STOCK HEIGHT and minus the front fender flares due to rubbing.

All fender flares OFF with T-bars cranked a bit and a bit of a spring lift in back (Thank you 88) So maybe an inch or an inch and a half of lift. This is the easy and affordible way to go. You can easily clear the 31x10.50s seeing how some pathys came that way and it would look fine. OH YA THIS IS SECONDS BEFORE WE STARTED THE BODY LIFT!!!

That would be kewl, Casey...PM me sometime & we can hook up. I like the idea of the 3" clearance...just concerned about the look & MPG's. That Calmini kit is sweet.

 

Thanks for the pix Rami...I guess I was fortunate and able to run 31x10.5's without needs to remove the fender flares. I would say that look is right on the border of what I consider OK for a lift to tire relationship. It's weird...without the flares, that rig has a strinking resemblance to a Ford Bronco II. No offense...just an observation.

He Rami, looks great! clap.gif Did you put JGC coils in the back and did you have to install taller shocks when you put in the coils and crancked the t-bars? Thanks

 

Actually NO!!! I did not put JGC coils in the back.... 88 did! He noticed that my fenders were going to rip off at sand lake when I was driving like a real McArse hole so he decided to help a brotha out. He also hooked it up with some better shocks. Aaron wasn't too empressed with the lift that I personally got from the JGC coils but Ill blame that on my tummy tum haha! I got like I said before maybe 1-1.5 inch of lift in the back from that.

 

N-E-WAYS

 

I am unsure about the length of the shocks in the back. I would have to ask Aaron but I did not have to get longer shocks for the front at all. Im pretty sure (don't hurt me if I'm wrong) you won't have to run any different sized shocks in the front at all after cranking the T-bars to their fullest!

Hey skrillaguerilla...that's like my exact PF...same color, same year, same model, same wheels. That doesn't just give me an idea...it's like an "after" shot...only before. :) Is there a reason that the front wheels are riding so far back?

 

Rami...so you prolly could have gotten away with the flares if you didn't drive like a madman?? That's funny.

I believe that the issue with stock shocks when you crank T-bars and/or do a spring lift is that they can top out and limit articulation. Thats probably more for for people who tackle the hard stuff and remove sway bars , etc. For 'normal' driving and off roading, it shouldn't be an issue.

If you install a BL you need taller shocks; dont forget to add any suspension lift to the length/travel. That said, I'm going to try to get all that info in one place...

I do drive like a madman SOMETIMES but I actually needed to get rid of those fender flares anyway. The day I got the tires installed I could barely pull out of the garage when they were finished. Making ANY type of turn (turning on to the road from my driveway, pulling into a parking spot, ect, ect) The beastly tires would rub like CRAZY! The only thing I can think of would be that the front end was drooping due to the OH SO GREAT stock T-bars and that I WAS running the original 15x7s fine but when I got the new tires I decided to go with 15x8s instead. The extra inch got the best of the flares!!!

 

If you install a BL you need taller shocks

 

Correct me if Im wrong but the length of shocks do NOT need to be changed if you were to install a BL. The body is complely sperate from the frame (and suspension). The shocks in front do not need to be touched and the ones in the rear should be fine becase the bump stops would stop it from over extending I THINK. If I'm wrong please please PLEASE tell me.

Nope, you're fine. The body's totally separate from the frame and the suspension. No worries.

 

B: The rear shocks will limit articulation with the swaybar removed, but the limiting factor in the front is the UCA bumpstops and the LCA bumpstops.

OMG!!! I can't belive you even THOUGHT about saying that!!! I do have feelings you know! I would have never said anything remotly close to that to ANYONE on this forum. Oh ya Im joking BTW!!! I like the look of my Pathfinder and I also like to hear what people think too. Its fine. NO OFFENSE TAKEN WHAT SO EVER, Ok? OK! You can say anything you want! You could have said that my Pathfinder looks like poopy and I still wouldnt mind at all. I might end up crying a bit at night when no one is looking but I should be fine. Actually when I first got my pathfinder I wanted to take the flares off anyways. Just something I wanted to do but after I got the new tires and rims it made me do it a bit sooner. Its all personal preferance. I might end up putting them back on if I get pulled over or something haha.

the picture in my signature with the boat on the back is what my truck looked like before I installed the lift. It made a pretty big difference because my rear coils and front torsion bars were pretty saggy. Eventually i'm going to need some heavier torsion bars. The front wheel is turned a little bit in the side-view picture I posted, that's why they look like they are pulled back a little. I have absolutely no rubbing with my current setup. Well maybe a little bit in the rear when the tire is tucked but nothing major. I used the Automotive Customizers upper control arms, some low-profile upper and lower bumpstops, new balljoints and some tie-rod ends, Calmini rear coils with urethane coils isolators. I couldn't afford new shocks. I'm currently using the stock adjustable ones.
