RedPath88
He said Hilux, the front crack is trail damage, the rear is for the door. In order to know which ones you would need to buy, we would have to know what year HiLux they were for... HiLux was the name of Toyota trucks pretty much everywhere in the world other than the US. 1978 was the last year it appeared on the truckssold in the US market. However it did remain the internal Toyota name for them until the 95.5's came out... when they adopted the new name, "Tacoma"

I have never seen anything like that on a hi lux either? I will find a pic of a cruiser with flares and post it.
jj big shoe
Looks like he remounted the front ones higher when he put the new tires on. The photo in the sand has the top below the body crease while the snow pics show it about 3" above. I'm liking the flares, but I wouldn't want to mount them as high as he did and have the gap from the crease. Any guesses as to what size BFG's are in the first pic? GrimGreg
He said they are for an 88 Hilux and he swapped front to rear/rear to front vs how they would go on the Yota. :contract:

Vsicks Pathy
Could this be the real donor car?? No, the wheel arches are to small. Those flares look like they came off something large? The Toyotas are all the wrong shape? Hi lux and cruiser.
RedPath88
The Toyotas are all the wrong shape? Hi lux and cruiser. Yeah, that year range ('84-'88 in the US) had a flat top fender well, those flares are rounded top. 89 they changed back to a rounder top again (more like the 79-83's). The flares themselves look like Bushwacker Cut Out Fender Flares But they don't really match that year's flares That is a domestic bed shown in the picture, but the shape of the fender wells were the same Edited August 3, 2005 by RedPath88

GrimGreg
OK, this is a direct quote from the owner in a post on AC; "Actually these fender flares are from a Toyota Hilux about 1988 model, the front fenders are in the rear and vice versa Here is a Icelandic website where you can order fender flares for a Pathfinder (Terrano), but for larger tires you will have to modify a Hatchback version to fit the doors: http://www.jeppaplast.is The price is around 1000$ - which is ofcourse farfar from beeing cheap. Here's a post from when I first put them on, link " Does that help?

RedPath88
No, but he gave a link to aftermarket ones for a Pathy/Terrano. At least thats how it sounds to me Looks like he has not posted for a while, but I sent him a message asking a couple different questions about this subject. We'll see if he gets back to me about it and if he can provide any additional info or not.
jj big shoe
Saw one of these today. It's a Daihatsu Rocky, remember those? Do y'all think with a little ingenuity those wide flares could possibly be grafted on our arches? There were a bunch buzzing around here in the states about ten years ago, so the jy might have a few. Might be worth a look-see. BTW, the linked pic is one in Perth, AU
Precise1
Those might work, but look a bit square. With our flared wheel wells, they would stick out a mile and look silly without 12.5"+ wide tires. Of course, trimming is always an option... B
jj big shoe
Also looks like they're mostly on the Aussie versions. If they do work, we'll all have to start sucking up to Vsicks so he'll send 'em. I'd like to get a set to play with, though. Vsicks Pathy
It will never happen (sucking up) and no way would they fit a Pathy. Edited August 4, 2005 by Vsicks Pathy
RedPath88
OK he got back to me this evening and is pretty sure that the body style of an 88 Toyota in Iceland is the same as the ones here. (the one in the pic I posted) Unfortunately he did not see the truck that his flares came off of so he cold not be 100% sure that it was of that body style. A Grim said, the cuts in the rear are for the doors (which I never really doubted) the front crack is from trail damage. And if you notice a "dent" in one of the fronts fenders, that is where his patch covering the gas tank door notch, fell out The BFG's are 35.s after swapping on the 36's he had to move the front fenders up some. He also offered to take some pictures of the flares and send them to me... which I took him up on, but also asked if he does it, to do it when he has time. No huge rush After all, he’s doing it as a favor. I'll let you know more as I find out. Oh, almost forgot. He's pretty sure that the flares are Icelandic. However if he does send pictures of them on the truck, we will have something to compare others too... like the Bushwacker Cut Outs.
