Brushguard

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I need your opinion! My friend gave me a brushguard that he doesn't use anymore...the only thing is that it is chrome. My pathy is a white 92 xe with all the black trim, and I wanted to know if you think I should sand out all the chrome and paint it black, or just polish it up and leave it as it is. The only chrome on my rig are the wheels  . I don't know if chrome would look good or not, I was even thinking of buying that pro comp skid plate from summit racing for it also, but I have never seen a suv or truck with a brush guard and a skid plate and don't know if it will look good. What should I do?

theres only one way to tell. spend 20 minutes putting it on and see how it looks. If you dont like it, dont use it. Simple no? Personally i like chrome, but some guys don't. I dont think white with chrome looks too great unless you have other chrome trim on the vehicle though. Brush gaurd and skid plate? I've seen LOTS of 4runners with both items installed, and i think they look pretty tough. shouldn't your pathy already have a skid plate though?

I do have a skid plate already, but it's the orginal....it's not even black anymore, more like redish black. That's why I wanted to buy another skid plate. I guess I'll just have to see if it looks good or not, like I said, the only chrome I have is the wheels.

I'd say go chrome or don't go at all with it. You'll never get a good solid paint on the chrome, so you'll always deal with shiny chips.

Thank's for the advice, I was thinking of going chrome, might as well, I guess, since the skid plate I want is stainless steel.

hey, thought i'd ask. Do you know the make of the brush gaurd? I havn't seen any chrome ones for sale... mind you i havn't looked terribly extensive, but nonetheless, i havn't come across any. So if you knew the make of them that'd be awesome. thanks.

No I really don't know 'cause my friend just gave it to me. I need to do a little mod on it so i can intall it perfectly, but if I remember correctly I think it came from a 70 or 80 something ford.
