flnl
Went to a tires shop to align but they couldn't... I had to go to an specialist and after all he said it'll be necessary to align the frame (front) as well as correct caster and camber. Is it reasonably common (having to align the frame)? norcaljoe
Whoa! That doesnt sound normal to me. Unless you have done a little destruction derby or some serious banging around. A second opinion might definately be called for.
jj big shoe
I've heared that a lot of shops have trouble correctly aligning Pathfinders. Try taking it to a dealer and see what they say. It might cost a little more than the first alignment shop, but a whole lot less than the second!
MaritimeMan
Tell them to pull their heads out. You seriously have to playing hard, and I mean hard to tweek a frame. Unless it's been in an accident, they are full of it. Ask Precise what a place wants to even check the frame for alignment. I'm sure he'll chime in on the quote they gave him. Just make sure you are sittin down when you read it.
Mr. Pickles
Yep, shop around again. It took till the 3rd time at the 2nd shop (Firestone) for me to be happy. Most likely, they don't know how to solve the problem of tough alignment, so they make up an excuse instead.
Precise1
Hey flnl, um, yeah.... Like MM said, a frame alignment should not be necessary unless the truck was damaged considerably, kind of like mine I've had quotes for $100-$280 just to measure the frame, thats not repairing anything.... Still looking for someone I trust... B
flnl
The whole work (front frame align, caster & camber adjust) was quoted about US$ 160. The wheel alignment would be US$ 20. I was involved in an accident, months ago, but a very light one, just a small damage to the front bumper. Also, I reindexed and cranked the torsion bar for almost 3" of lift. I always thought wheel alignment WAS camber, castor, and toe in... I'm not sure what "the wheel alignment" would be then... "Yes, its on the car and pointed forward" ?? flnl
I meant... the shop asked US$160 for the alignment job plus the frame alignment... I don't know if I'm explaining it well in English... and I don't know much about alignment, also I'm considering if it will be better to save the money to buy the UCAs from RoughCountry first and then retry the basic alignment
