sabastian
2001 pathfinder 3.5 So, apon the first start up of the day it squeals, initially it would just do a fast squel then instantly stop or for example if I park at work and hours later start up to go home it does it also but if I run to the store and get out 30 minutes later start it up I have no squel. The belts appear to be in good condition I don't see any cracks. Now the squel is lasting longer and sometimes it takes about 45 seconds to a minute to top or I have to physically drive a bit for it to cut off. Any pointers or thoughts would be appreciated. adamzan
Sounds like the belts are worn or stretched. You can try tightening them up but if it has been happening for a while they're probably glazed. If you don't know when they were last changed, they are pretty cheap to replace.
CamperDan
I too had this issue on my 01 right after replacing both belts. Turns out the main belt (the biggest of the two) was not tight enough. Tightened it up and no more belt squeal on startup. So do check both because one of them has to be lose. Chris
