crab
Used to have one on an old Toyota, gave a nice increase in power. Which model do you need for a WD21? I see the stock replacement filters available but was wondering about the cone shaped ones.
RCWD21
I've never noticed an increase in power with a drop in filter or a cone filter. And with the cleanable filters I've always had to clean my maf much more frequently and after a while it got annoying because the cone filter I had wouldn't hold the oil in place. It would always run down and drip off no matter how little oil I used. Personally I'd stick with a standard paper filter. With it being an offroad vehicle I've never liked the thought of having an open element air filter under my hood, but I don't know if you off road or not. Precise1
I'll just add x10 to this. MAYBE it does something if you have a VG33 transplant or VG34 build, but for a stock VG30 (even with cams and headers from what I can tell), there is no point. The stock VG30 system seems to breathe better than the motor needs. Farting is another story though... If you want to run a snorkel, it is a good way to go then. Precise1
Headers... And to follow up on my brain fart, I was talking about the enclosed K&N Apollo cone filter for a snorkel. The exposed cone filter wouldn't work for obvious reasons. B
KovemaN
I guess I like to refer to it as "snorting" since I usually notice that out of the open filter after installing headers. Farting is what comes out of a Fartley Davidson compensation mobile.
