Looking to swap 5speed tranny for automatic.

My automatic has recently lost reverse and I have a 5spd for my 95 se and was wanting to swap it with someone for and automatic just to make the work a little easier than converting to a 5spd manual.

You could always try your local U Pull-it junkyard to see if they have any on the lot. Most are wrecks and the transmission works fine. Looks like there is one not too far from ya. Another possibility is to have yours serviced.. Dont know the prices in your area but I have found shops to rebuild them for about $1k or eBay has them for anywhere between $250 -$700 Good Luck

If you're gonna get a junkyard tranny, you might as well get one of the later transmissions from an Xterra (there's a thread on which ones will swap in). They bolt right up and are built stronger.

If you decide to convert it into manual shifter. You may need to get the imported, clutch pedal, shifter and cables, master and slave hydraulics.

I suggest you start a thread in the Parts Wanted and Parts For Sale sections, mentioning the possible trade. Trannys are always being sought after by someone...

I would agree with Precise, that would be the safest and cheapest way to solve your problem.
