  2. Have you checked the power steering pressure sensor. I had the same prob and that fixed it. Pulled a sensor from local junkyard and they didnt even charge me for it. Here is a link with a picture of the lower hose where you will find the sensor http://www.partsgeek.com/mmparts/power_steering_hose/nissan/pathfinder.html
  3. I had factory LSD in my pathy and one of the clips that hold the clutch packs broke. To save time and money I went the the local junkyard and pulled an open diff ( no LSD on the lot that day) and swapped the entire carrier. Just a few weeks ago my friend found a LSD on the lot and we pulled it and swapped out the open one. It is real simple swap as long as the gears are the same. 4 bolts for the driveshaft, 4 nuts for each axle so you can slide the shaft out of the carrier and the the nuts that hold the carrier. Careful though, the carrier weighs about 70-lbs and awkward to handle. May want to enlist in a second pair of hands
  4. You stated that you were planning on 35x12.5x15..... any thoughts on swapping out the 4.36 gears to 4.63 ? I run 32x10.5x17 and it is a bit sluggish. Should be able to find a set in junkyard pretty easy. The plate under the hood on passenger side firewall will show gear ration - Either HG43 or HG46. Also comes in LSD which you can identify by the rear diff label "USE LSD OIL ONLY"
  5. I am running on 32x10.5 Nitto Trail Grapplers. I have Fleury's 3in lift spacers. No problem
  6. Not knowing where you are in Mississippi I just picked the middle - Bienville National Forest - and it looks like about 9.5 Hrs@ 657 miles. But there are PLENTY of places closer to Mississippi than Richloam for some good trails. Even Georgia has some great trails. An easy way to find them is to just google " Jeep Trails <Local Area where you live>" Good Luck
  7. You could always try your local U Pull-it junkyard to see if they have any on the lot. Most are wrecks and the transmission works fine. Looks like there is one not too far from ya. Another possibility is to have yours serviced.. Dont know the prices in your area but I have found shops to rebuild them for about $1k or eBay has them for anywhere between $250 -$700 Good Luck Paul's Auto Yard 651 State Road 2 Westville, IN 46391
  8. Started fab for my snorkel with a "Little" help
  9. After just changing all my fluids as well here is something that will help with the diff fluids. As for whether or not to drop the pan, well I would say yes. You never know what you might find in there. There is a magnet that collects all the real fine metals to prevent damage to the bands, drums, etc... If the magnet is covered it may not be doing its job and therefor damaging the transmission. The gasket is about $8 and the filter is about $14 and it takes only 20-30 min to change. As for the fluid change I would recommend doing a complete flush using the cooler lines and put in a good full synthetic. Valvoline has one called Valvoline Dextron IV ATF Multi-Import FULL SYNTHETIC that runs about $23 a galon and is compatible with the following: - Toyota/Lexus - Type T, T-II, T-IV (except hybrids) - Honda/Acura - ATF-Z1 (except CVT) - Nissan/Infiniti - Matic-D, Matic-J, Matic-K (except CVT) - Hyundai/Kia - SP-II, SP-III, SP-IV, Genuine ATF - Mitsubishi - SP-II, SP-III, SP-IV - Subaru - ATF-HP (except CVT) - Mazda - M-III, M-V, JWS-3309 - BMW - LT 71141, LA 2634, 7045E - Mercedes Benz - NAG-1, 236.10 and older - Volkswagen/Audi - VW 052 162, 052 990, 055 025 - Volvo - 97340, 97341, 1161521 - Jaguar - JLM 20238 - Ford - Mercon V
  10. To all those in the area, I am planning to hit up the muddy trails of Richloam WMA. If all goes as planned I will be out there Jan 24-25 and Feb 21-22 2015 with a friend or two with their Jeeps. Here is a Link to some pictures of what you can expect to see as far as mud trails. Not all trails are so deep that you need a snorkel but they are out there. Most trails can be tackled by a stock Jeep with AT/MT tires so dont be discourage. This will be my 1st trip to Richloam and I plan to camp over night as they allow primitive camping. I have been all through Ocala National Forest and hope that Richloam is as good as the pics make it look. I welcome anyone in the area to join. Hope to see some of you there - Soulust

  12. Hello All, I am a new Member and I agree with many of the other posts that this is a great site, VERY helpful with the questions that I have been asking myself. I have a 1998 Pathfinder 4x4 that I have taken a recent interest in going off roading with now that my friend bought a Jeep and needs help getting unstuck, lol. I just had the transmission completely rebuilt and have added a set of 32x10.5 (255/75/17) Nitto Trail Grapplers and very soon to add the Lift Spacers from Liftmakers post http://www.ebay.com/...984.m1555.l2649 or the stackable ones from http://4x4design.com/r50-lift-kit.php (leaning more towards the single piece that Liftmaker fabs). I am also working on fabricating a snorkel from 3" 16ga Exhaust pipe and have already extended all the breather tubes for the front/rear differentials as well as the transmission.I am still lookin for a good winch bumper too. I have a few questions about the rear trailing arms and pan hard bar after the lift. I am only planning to lift it approx 2-2.5" and was wondering if adjustments were needed for them. As soon as i finish the lift I will add some pics - Soulust
