dududuckling
HiI have a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder.I brought it to local mechanic and had the front wheel bearings and tie rods replaced on both sides. Next thing I know the abs light came on. I suspect there are broken ABS ring/components, but not too sure. Braking is not affected at all. Can someone help me out? Thanks. bushnut
they may have damaged the ABS sensor wire.
stioc
Did you make sure the mechanic reconnected the abs cables/sensors?
dududuckling
Yep, he checked and rechecked, front and rear... I had the brakes re-serviced (no new parts, just inspect the front brakes and tighten up the rear ones, there's a dial), changed the front wheel bearings and tie rods, and changed the fluids (front diff, rear diff, transmission, transfer case) I plan to bring it back again tomorrow since I have developed grinding/screeching noise from front right. It starts screeching as soon as I move, but it goes away when I steer to the left or step on the brake. @Stioc: Where in SoCal are you located? I am moving to Santa Barbara this weekend, will be bringing the pathfinder, that's why I had it looked at today haha Edited September 8, 2014 by dududuckling
adamzan
I'm betting they damaged one of the abs sensors or the wires.
stioc
I'm about 150miles (x1.6 for kms?) south of SB. What brings you to SB? CA is a great place with lots of fruits and nuts

Rebelord
Grinding noise? I'd have them fix that asap. They probably broke the wire. Easy to do as the sensor is right on the knuckle. Sent from my Moto X
Mehbenn
Sounds like it's the abs wire I bent mine a little and it turned on . got mine at a local junkyard maybe you could do the same easy cheap fix
dududuckling
Thanks guys. So bearing problem is fixed, no more grinding/screeching noise or hot-to-touch hubs. Up next will be the ABS... thanks again for the help!
Rebelord
If you have to replace the sensor. Start spraying it with liquid wrench now. Every day until you pull it. Mine was a bear and half to change. Metal cased sensor in iron cast knuckle. Rusted in there good. Sent from my Moto X
dududuckling
I'm driving with abs light on for now, but I'll spray when I have the time to change the sensor...
Rebelord
Actually, in the FSM. There is a procedure on how to read the abs codes. Its like reading a old OBD 1 car. You count the flashes and tells you whats the issue.
