rosspbig
The only problem with taking out all those empty tabs by the cigarrette lighter is that you dont have any place to mount auxilary light switches.........any place that will look stock that is. Pezzy
yes, my rear window switch is in the same lever as the front wipers... and yes, I dont have anywhere to put any more switches... right now that isnt a problem - but one day... I guess I'll deal with that when the time comes. Maybe when I put my aftermarket stereo in, and need to fill the addl space with something... hmmm.... RowOSU
I was planning to put those switches in the blank spots by the ashtray/handbrake area. That may only be an option for the 96-99.4999, I don't remember right now. The other option would be on the driver's side by the cruise control and security LED, I think there are blank spots there. Trialsin26
Do I need to get a speaker?
nick1716
only if you want to use the PA... but otherwise theyre built in, and theres also a plug in the back for the option of using a better external speaker instead of the built in one
Pezzy
I got an external speaker for mine, only because the speaker on the CB base is hidden in the dash... I have it hidden around the side by my feet... I also have the speaker for the PA, not installed yet... no idea why really - just wanted to have fun yelling at people in traffic & at coffee meets!! hahaha! nick1716
yea haha and random pedestrians is fun too! great fun in the PA you should really get to it and intall it!
88pathoffroad
Only problem with the PA option is that the CB only puts out 4 watts tops, and by the time it gets up to the speaker under your hood, the voltage has dropped even more. Not a good equation for a loud PA speaker...

Not a good equation for a loud PA speaker... true enough... My hubby has one on the X, and has hidden it in the roof basket behing the airdam... I dont have that luxury... His was under the hood, and was always pretty quiet... that and it got filled with mud offroad! Once we moved it to the basket we noticed a BIG improvement. It's a while before it warms up here and I'll have to worry about where to install mine.. so I have time to sit & comtemplate placement...
nick1716
i mounted mine on the inside of my bumper, in front of the washer fluid box and its loud enough.. my buddy has his in the engine bay of his 4runner and its just as loud

merlinx
Where did you guys mount the antenna ? I have a 97 and I have a firestick antenna that I would like to install. On my old 4x4 (Toyota truck) I had it on the roll bar but on the Pathfinder I have no idea where to mount it to get the best reception. cheers
rosspbig
i just mounted mine on my Yakima Loadwarrior roof rack.
88pathoffroad
It needs to be mounted as high as possible on the passenger's side center of the vehicle for best reception. It will also work decently in other places, but it needs to be solidly grounded to the body of the vehicle to work right.
Mr. Pickles
Question: why on the passenger side? Install dude put mine on the driver's side fender. It works well, just wondering.

Pezzy
K-40 Magna-mount antenna, rear of the truck, center... (see my avatar for location) I have to take it off when I go to malls and such (it's a quick disconnect - so not a problem, REMEMBERING is my problem) - Had my orignal one stolen just before christmas... seems the thieves were christmas shopping too...
