  1. I've got 9 lights placed all over my car. One pair of Hella Rallye 4000, a pair of Hella 500's, a Hella dual beam flood on both sides and the rear, and a pair of KC daylighters on my brushguard. All of the Hellas are attatched to a Yakima loadwarrior. I didn't use the yakima light mounts simply because if your lights are fairly large like mine, they stick up waaay to high, and its easy to snag them on tree branches or whatnot. They work fine for slim lights, but my 4000s are 9" tall, so they dont work well there. So I just went to home depot and got some strips of metal and some bolts and made some mounts that simply clamp to the roof rack. I can go into detail if you need me to on how to make them. 2. Here's a pic of my pathy on 32" Firestone M/T's. It'll look a little lower than yours would, since I have 2" spacers instead of the A/C lift.
  3. I'm running 32's on my 2001. I didn't buy new wheels, but I did have to put 1/2" wheel spacers on the front. So, whatever is 1/2" difference or more in backspacing should do you right.
  4. Yeah, they are held in by little plastic fastener-type things. I'm really not sure what they're called, but whatever they are, they connect through holes in the side of the car and by a few screws in the fenderwell. This isn't to say that it can't be modified to fit, tho. It probably wouldn't be too big of a job to fit them some other way.
  5. Mines inside of the bumper, right in front of the wheel well.
  6. Here's what I'm savin for! touch screen control, direct link with the ipod, and you can grab one for under 900 bucks now!
  7. I just went through the same situation that you're in, and I ended up going with the firestone destination m/t. Performs very well in wet and dry areas, wears well (for an m/t at least), also they're the quietest m/t I've ever heard. Another great thing about this tire is the sidewall lugs. Not many other m/t's have such an aggressive sidewall. The goodyear mt/r is also a great tire. But if you're going to be in mud, look the other direction. It's an absolutely great tire for rock, but will pack up very quickly in mud.
  8. Ok, so I was out wheelin today, and decided to try this big sloshy mud put. So I hit it with some speed, kept a high RPM all the way through it, so naturally I was splashing up a lot of mud. I made it through, but immediately afterward, the engine cut off. So I tried cranking it again. It cranked, but the RPM's dropped and the car stalled within about 5 seconds. So we kept trying for 15 minutes, and then decided to just let it rest. About 45 minutes later, we cranked it up again, and it stayed cranked. Although it would crank, every 30 seconds or so, the RPMs would drop sharply, and then come right back up. Also, if I rev it up, once I get near 2500 RPMs, the car begins to lurch, and the revs go up and down very fast. I was hoping that it just needed to dry out, but after driving home 20 minutes from the trail head, it was still doing the same thing. And I got home over 4 hours ago, and it is still doing the exact same thing! Any ideas on what this could be? Fixes? It sounded like a distributor problem, but I didn't think this engine had a distributor. At least I couldn't find one under the hood. Also, I had taken off the factory splash guard, if that helps. But when I looked under the hood, the engine didn't appear to be very wet or muddy at all. Oh, and we had a video rolling during the time of the incident, so if it would help to see it, I could probably email it to you. Thanks for your help.
  9. Out of curiosity, what kind of problems did you run into? What made it PITA? I'm looking at my suspension and it doesn't seem too hard. Mine is an 01. well, first of all, the back was easy. Took no time at all. The front however, was not fun. To get the spacers on the top, you had to compress the springs to a dangerous level. Even after that, it was extremely hard to fit the strut back onto the car with the added two inches on it. I would STRONGLY recommend that you pay someone else to do it. Not worth the risk of damaging the car, or more importantly yourself in the process.
  10. Looks like fun! I wish I could get that many Nissans to go wheelin with me... All we have down here are jeeps.
  11. The back should be no trouble. But I'd get someone else to do the front. You'll save yourself a lot of time and trouble.
  12. Well, I wish I could give ya a better answer. But I found em in a for-sale ad on this board. Nick1716 was the guy that I got em from, maybe he could give you some more info on where to get some.
  13. Hey, thats pretty slick! Thanks for the tip
  14. Ok, one at a time here. Lets see... 1. The lights are wired in through the gap in the trunk. I ran the wires over the weather stripping, so it seals around it when the trunk is closed. The power/relay box for my lighting controller is under my passenger seat, so the wires all go to there eventually. I grounded them to some bolt in the trunk, I'm not exactly sure which one. 2. thing hanging in the rear is the sway bar link. I guess my ziptie job didnt work out too well. 3. Yep, I'm doin a winch. I've had it for about a month, but can't mount it on the front yet. I went with the multi mount thing so I can use it in the rear also, which has already come in VERY handy once. A guy who owes me a favor makes custom bumpers for jeeps, and its going to make me a front hitch. Its just a matter of when he has time for me to come into the shop and get it all done. So I'm keeping the grille guard. They won't interfere with each other. 4. Yes there are rubbing problems. Plenty of them. The big one is with strut clearance. The guy at the tire place set the front wheels off camber a bit until I could get wheel spacers put on, and then bring it back in for re-alignment. So I put the spacers on today, and will take it back to the tire place tomorrow. Also, the front left tire rubs on the inside of the fender well when backing up and turning at the same time. But that's easily trimmed. Not a big deal at all. 6. As for the rear swaybar, it was a little hard to tell since I went from swaybar on and small tires to no swaybar with big tires and lift. So I saw a big difference in performance, but I really dont' think any of it was cause by having the swaybar disconnected. It is such a tiny little bar, and there is barely any difference in driving on the road without it which makes me think it barely does anything at all. I'm definitely going to reconnect it unless it proves to make a huge difference this weekend on the trail.
  15. Well, I bought a used set of 2" coil spacers and slapped on a set of 32's. I think I ended up going a little over 2" actually. The back doesnt look like it in the pics cause the trunk is kinda loaded down with a winch and such, so its usually a tad higher. Tires are 265/75/r16 Firestone Destination M/T's. The transformation is like night and day, both on the eyes and actual trail performance. The sidewall grip is great also. I love em! I feel like a total badass drivin down the road now, ha! And I get a lot more respect from the guys I wheel with now, since I'm doing the same and sometimes harder stuff than they are in their jeeps!
  16. Well, I got it finished up! And I'm never going to touch struts again! Anyway, I also got the tires on too. 32" Firestone Destination M/T's! I'll hopefully go get em dirty tomorrow. I'll post up some pics soon too.
  17. Well, I bought a set of 2" spacers from a guy here on the board (thanks, by the way). So I got the rears on with no problem. Then, we went for the front. Ya know how everyone says struts are a real PITA? Well, they were right. -thnkboutit- Long story short, it's in the shop getting it done after we spent 4.5 hours of work figuring out we can't do it with the tools we had. So hopefully the lift and the 32" M/T's will be on by tonight! I really hope it all works out since I committed to go on a ride with my local 4x4 club tomorrow afternoon... Anyway, I'll get pics for ya soon if everything works out. Lets hope for the best!
  18. I can sell ya a Trek Fuel minus the front fork. And I could make a deal for one o my pathy brothers! Bike has some really sweet components on it.
  19. Mine was simple. 6 head-head bolts on each nerf bar (3 mounting brackets, two bolts on each) and all the same size. So just take a ratchet and socket and have at it. I just remember there being one or two that were a hard angle to get at.
  20. Here's one of mine. the brand is UB, cause it was cheap! I can't get the picture to post here, but just click the link. brushguard picture
  21. cardomain page there's my cardomain page for interior stuff
  22. Yes I do, and I'm a certifiable weight weenie also! I road bike a good bit, but I like mtn biking a whole lot more. I don't ride as much as I used to, so i'm parting out one of my bikes (anyone need a frame? wheels? etc?) , but i'm keeping my hardtail. I've done so much work to this bike, and I love it! I've done everything from building up ultralight wheels to dremelling my rear derailleur. Anyway, there are some great places to ride within a half hours drive from my house, but I love to go up to Pisgah, Dupont, or Tsali whenever time permits. Mmm... biking... fun... my ride
  23. No, you can put any kind of head you want in there. Just takes a dash kit and a couple of wiring adapters. Nothing out of the norm.
