OEM Radios

I have a 1994 pathfinder with the radio and seperate cd player. The cd player doesn't work, but I would like to keep everything as original as I can b/c the pathfinder is in great condition inside and out. I was wondering if any other year Nissan model radios would fit my 1994. I viewed some newer model Nissan radios online and they look like they may fit. I saw a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder oem radio and cd player in one that seem like it would fit. Buy looking online and actually seeing the radios I know is different. I have called several salvage yards in my area and they none of them had any. I have a 1997 Nissan hardbody and it has the exact same dashboard as the 1994 Pathfinder. So, I assume a D21 radio and cd player would fit the Pathfinder. But I was wondering if or any newer Nissan radios and cd players would fit the Pathfinder. I know I would run into wiring troubles, but I think I could handle the job.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies. I was wondering if it would be best to go look at a radio say at a salvage yard to see the actual size of the radio to see if it fits. Or can you measure your old one and see the pics of a newer on ebay and if it gives measurements go by that.

It's a pretty standard-sized hole. For what it's worth a Sony Xplod fit mine without modification (except for wiring), same brackets and all. However the R50 dash (don't know about the pre-facelift ones but certainly the 01+) have a double size radio that would be a bugger to fit.

i too used the stock brackets and screws for that matter. even the after market double size have the same mounting. you just wouldnt need the sleeve that comes with them. the brackets line up with the screw holes on the deck. pretty simple. if your going aftermarket anyway..
