gotta love my brothers here,,,pa mountain biker posted he has a set of gears for my 98 r-50,, just need to make sure what he has is the same... how do i find my gear numbers ..looked in manual,,looked a door placard,,no mention.. he has 4.33 rear..sound right?his is from a 98 chillout edition... the same??? chine in guys please....

my plate for the gearset is on the inside of my passenger side fender (in the engine bay) its a shiney card... but mine is older... so...?

Look for HG46 or HG43 on the door jamb sticker/placard. HG43 means you have 4.36:1 gears, and HG46 means you have 4.63:1 gears.

+1 The plate is in the engine bay on wd's , caR50s are on door I believe. HG 4.3 or hg 4.6

Pretty sure my plate is under the hood, maybe that changed in post-facelift R50s?

This is somethin I was wondering about myself just curious as to what the factory gears were. I Checked mine just now and I have HG46 stamped on the firewall passenger side. 98 SE..if that matters.
