Turn Signal Problem-'95

I've had repeated problems with the turn signal fuse blowing. Seems to happen when it rains, first there's a buzzing noise and then they don't work at all. So far this has been fixed by progressively larger fuses. I think the 30 amp may have been a bad idea P... because this week after the buzz there were no signals and the fuse is ok. The hazard lights aren't working either but their fuse is ok too.

My husband's theory is that the flasher unit now needs replacing, I've got a new box but can't figure out where it plugs in. The owner's manual is no help. Anyone know offhand where this unit is?

Thanks.

I had a similar problem with my pathy about a month ago. My blinkers and flashers stopped working all together, but ever once in a while the bright lights wouldn't work. No fuses where blown and everything appered ok, the blinkers just wouldn't work. I bought a little relay blinking box that plugs in right by the fuses. That didn't help so I took it back and got my money back and assumed it had to be the blinker switch.

I called the Nissan dealer and told them the problem and they qouted me a price on the blinker switch itself and told my it would be nearly impossible to fix by myself without experience. $200 or so bucks. The part was gonna take a week to get there and I'd just drive around with no blinker till then.

Anyway,,, I was driving somewhere IN THE RAIN... and I always use the blinks out of habit. I looked down and they where working. and they've been working good since then. The dealer still has the part ready to go if they stop working agian. But as long as it's not broke I'm not going to get it fixed.

From a diagnostic standpoint, it sounds like a relay isn't closing. the frist thing I'd try replacing is the flasher relay, probly only a couple of bucks, and work from there. Troubleshooting is alot easier if you eliminate the easy stuff first.

Don't believe the stealer for a minute, TrailChaser. The combo switch is easily changed by anyone that can figure out the right end of a screwdriver... a 10 minute fix at most ~ I know, I've replaced mine ~ they're trying to ream you. Buy a new one & do it yourself ~ it's a piece of cake if they ever quit again or you end up having the "disappearing" headlight thing. :aok:

Might try getting in there & cleaning the contacts first... -thnkboutit-
