I can't find any 16" x 7 steelies , approx 5.5 back space give or take an inch.

Can you advise a store that I should try or a website that I could show the store that these rims actually exist.

Summit Racing, Jegs, etc have 16x7 Cragar soft 8s

I checked their website (crager) the back space is 4... will that make the tire stick out too far and cause rubbing?

I don't think you should have any issues. 4" backspacing is neutral. That is what I am going to run on my 95 and clearance (with the spare) seems good.

Given that r50s have struts, isn't backspacing a little more important?

I run a set of Crager 16x7 rims on my 2004 Pathy and the 4" backspace works great. My tires stick out a bit more than stock (about 1.5") but i was able to put on 31" tires and clear the strut and don't have any rubbing issues.

Why not go up to 16x8? What size tires do you plan to put on?

i got 16x8 from 4wheelparts.com with -3.75bs and i only rub slightly in reverse full-lock right and left...even tho they took 7 weeks to get...it was worth it. and only cost me $300. I personally like how they stick out a little more then stock...it looks more ....

I tried out the fitment on 31's with 15" steel (not sure of the spacing) on a stock lift, but they rubbed pretty bad. Say if I kept the rims I have on mine right now (look at my sig picture) would i need any spacers for 31's? If so, what size?
