The_Magicians_Eye
Does anyone have these cams in their ride? If so how much did it help power wise? Do you think it was worth the money? I need more power. That's it plane and simple. I'm looking for the most bang for my buck. I don't like how hard my truck has to work to tow my trailer. Even empty it struggles on any type of hill. Here is what I've done so far: headers, hi-flow cat, 2 chamber muffler, K&N filter, I made by breather box look like swiss cheese with a 2 inch hold saw, made sure my alignment was right on point, and all basic maintenance items have been replaced (fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap, rotor). Outside of new cams and getting the computer rebuilt I don't know what else to do. Help!!!!!
Tungsten
Can you tell me what your exhaust setup is exactly? Also, can you make an acceleration video?

ejin4499
You've done the basics have you considered putting a vg33 block in ? I made that swap a while back made a pretty significant difference after all the other stuff. I got a long block for about 600 in cali. You should be able to find something around there. Nissannut has a write up on his website that does a pretty good job going over how to do it. Or you could always turbo it.
The_Magicians_Eye
I'm not going to pull the whole engine. If I ever have to I'll most likely do the chevy swap. I'm looking for reasonable. Power gains for the amount of time and money I'll be putting into it. That's why I'm asking about the cams.
MY1PATH
JWT S1 cams will give a noticeable power gain from about 2500RPM and up in a 3.0 and 2000RPM and up in a 3.3. A very worthwhile mod for highway use towing or not.
ejin4499
has anyone noticed a gas mileage change with the S1?

Some PaceSetters have a restriction at the Y, from welding IIRC and the stock pipe doesn't allow much flow. Remember, with exhaust you want flow with little turbulance and the single choke point sets the gains for the whole system. That said, some back pressure is desirable for a daily driver AFAIAC. The_Magicians_Eye
Both these may be part of the issue. Part of what issue? I didn't know I had an "issue"... I thought all of us stock VG30 pathy owners had a truck with no balls?
The_Magicians_Eye
By the way my headers don't have any type of blockage at all. I've looked inside of them.
silverton
My truck has plenty of power. It hauled around a 25'ish foot dual axle travel trailer pretty damn good! Only thing I have done to it is replaced the air filter with a K&N drop-in.
The_Magicians_Eye
Well then maybe there is something wrong. I did a test run with an empty 5x8 enclosed trailer (single axle) and it did fine on flat roads. On any type of hill it was bad enough for me to worry about towing it with it loaded down. Anyone in Phoenix willing to let me take their ride for a spin to see if it's got more power than mine?
JamesRich
Come down here and drive mine, then you'll be happy with yours. Jim Wolf cams are supposed to be the best. The S1s are close to the motorsport cams used in the Project Pathfinder truck. In this article you can read about a VG34 too. James
