Thinking about another WD21

Well, I found out this week that my previous pathy of 7 years has finally bit the bullet. The timing belt lost a couple teeth and burned the valves. I was hoping to get into the R50s, but I came across a 95 SE with only 89k miles and looks to be in pristine shape (it's a Cali car). Since I'm already accustomed to the WD21, my first inclination is to pick it up, but I'm having second thoughts. What do you guys think? With it having such low miles, is it worth picking up or should I move on to something else? I've read the "Things to watch for" post, but is there anything else I should watch for?

I'll post some pics after I take it for a test drive, but in the mean time, I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts.

Best thing you could do is have a look at the R50's on the market for the same dollars as the pristine WD, if an R50 in the same condition is going to cost you a few grand more, grab the WD and put the difference into making it your own (tyres, lift & anything else you want).

Dollar for Dollar you can do more with the WD21. 3 major things to look for, Rust on the frame. And don't forget to check the inside of it at the rear wheel wells. Poke your fingers in there and feel around. Find out if the timing belt has been done, unlikely if only 89k but sometimes the Odometers can stop on these rides. Check out if the manifold bolts are F***ed and lastly, check the transmission if auto through all gears and feel for the shift quality. If its got a trailer hitch on it be weary and pay extra attention to the tranny.

Good luck.

Well guys, I finally took a look at that wd21 and it was a bust. The VINs were all stripped. Funny thing is, it only had 85k on it.

Oh well... it looks like I might have to either find an '03 R50 or bow out of the pathfinders. Either way, I'll have a sweet parts car if anyone needs anything!

Thanks for the input!
