Diff vent?

ok i was snooping under the hood today and i noticed a "vent line" that comes from the front and rear diffs. they come together on a metal tube and the tube just stops. it has a "bulb" on the end like to where another rubber tube would conect but im not sure if there should be one or to where it would go.its the metal line that comes up from the frame to the fire wall on the pasenger side. is this normal or am i missing a part or more? any info is helpful

Nothing missing, the open end is the vent. You could add a hose to it to put the vent opening somewhere else, but it is pretty safe as is.

also that vent is your t-case, Tranny and front diff.

the rear diff vents inside a frame crosmember and that one should be extened up into the rear pillarif you do any kind of mud or water.

most of my vent lines were rotted. i replaced the one coming off the top of the auto-trans with some rubber hose up through my cab under my centre console.

Well I had hoped I could get to the point where I could just drive around smiling and just crawl under to change the oil.
