KA24E turbo or supercharger?

Recommended Posts

SC's are constant, from Idle up. the boost is always propotional and the vehicle is predictable. This is much needed for many low speed and power on/off/gentle controlled situataions.

a small trubo with a low spool rpm would be then next best and likely simpler/ more affordable. but output is depenant on RPM to create enough exhaust gas. if you let off and then want to ease into it you will have lost all the power you were using a moment before.

Really, i'd try a vg33 swap and SC with an eaton m90 if you want torque from forced indcution. but that would be even harder (but well deserved 250+ftbs)

A coworker of mine has a SC'd Xterra that is freakin wicked. All he did was buy a superchips programmer or something and it will flat run, I would like to have the power his has....

For Mudding/Sand - Turbo; size depends on how fast you plan to go

(eg my stock 91 terrano turbo kicks in at 2200rpm so i have to stay above that to keep it spinning)

but when its spinning they work well (which is why majority of cars are turbo not super)

However if you are planning on lots of intense, low rpm rock climbing, a supercharger might be a better option,

summary:

mud+sand - Turbo

rock climbing - Supercharger

here's a silvia SR20 DET in a hardbody done by the Nissan specialist's at JGY customs in Virginia:

Don't get me started on those screw balls. Feel free to search around on sr20forum.com and you'll see all the stuff they've screwed up.

An SR is not necessarily difficult (not much different than in an S chassis), but there is no reason to give up the torque you would be with a square 2.0 vs 2.4 with a long stroke.
