Loud whine from under the hood

Nay-Sayer

I have a loud whining sound coming from under the hood of my 1993 Pathfinder. The whining sound mainly occurs when the truck is cold. After it's had a chance to heat up, the whining sound goes away.

Any ideas?

Do you have a wife or GF stuffed under the hood?? Just checking... ;)

The tensioner pully (AC?) is a source of noise but wonder why by the name??

It is not expensive, IIRC you can disassemble the unit and just replace the bearing pack. To check if it is that unit, start the truck and then spray some WD-40 or silicone spray into it to see if it quiets down for a bit. Be careful of the moving belts, spinning fan and general overspray though...

Can't hurt to check the For Sale section, or post in the 'Parts Wanted'
