I don't know what the problem is but I do have a spare t-case, It needs new seals which I could do for your (I just did one, seals cost 70usd & only takes a few hours) so If you wind up needing a new one make an offer.

Do you mean that the t-case shifter doesn't move or that it doesn't move at all in 4WD? I'd jack it up and get underneath with a flashlight and take a look at the shifter from underneath, maybe it's been damaged somehow. That's on the driver's side.

The 4x4 shifter itself wont budge

I'd bet it's either bent (possible, but unlikely) or seized from not being used (more likely)

Did the mechanic say what needed to be fixed?

Thats what he said its probable siezed...because the previous owner was a older lady & she may have never used it.

Just a thought, cause when I taught my nephew to drive he thought that the t-case shifter was usually in Neutral(so he was trying to push it forward to engage), so if your new to a pathy, make sure your pushing it the right way :)

2Hi- Starts here, this is for daily driving

4hi- Pull back to get here, this will engage all 4 wheels, and you can go past 30mph

N- This will disengage it all, and you need to push down vertically on the handle, then pull it one click to get here

4lo- This should only be used for extreme conditions, NEVER on dry pavement. Again depress the handle, and pull all the way back

:) HOPEFULLY you were mistaken although I highly doubt it...but hey, if it can save you $$$ its worth mentioning

tks 4 the advice however I know how to select 4x4,so I am going to think its just stuck (siezed up ) from lack of use, even my mechanic tried to get it in 4hi. When I get some cash I will try & rectify & post my results.tks again

PB Blaster the linkage at the t-case. Soak it well, every day for a week. 99% chance, she'll break free after that. Mine was ALMOST seized completely when I bought it, but some PB and some regular use has it moving much more freely.

I also have a spare 4x4 lever if you need it. Its in really good shape save for the rubber dust boots that tear so easily. but those are really cheap if you get them from Alkorahil
