Can dealers cut keys?

When I got my Pathfinder, it only came with one key and it was too worn to copy normally. I was able to get my key code from the dealership and took it to a locksmith and he was able to make some keys. However, I think the dealer said they only started keeping track in '96, so I don't think you'll be able to do that. No idea if it's possible to get a key made from the cylinder.

We were cutting keys way before 96! Have your local dealer run your vin through Nissannet. If you have a older vin number(you may, 93 and all), they may need to make a phone call and get your key code. The only thing that may stop them, is if the original selling dealer did not copy it down when the purchase was final.

yes! buy a bunch of spares and keep them in different places around the house so you will always have a back up.

Did you actually get genuine Nissan keys? Or do they use those crappy Ilco or curtis ones that somehow bend in your pocket?
