where is the ECU on a 87 Pathfinder?

There is a little plastic tab you pull off of the side of the ECU. A toggle switch is behind it with 2 positions, "ON" and "DIAGNOSTICS". Move it to the diagnostics position.

Then it should flash codes when you turn the ignition to the ON position....?

no no i copied that first question i have no idea where the ecu is? Its located where on the 87 Pathfinder?

 

I am looking for this box to get into the diagnostics?

Im not sure on the 87 but on the 94 its under the passengers seat.

Well hit the autowreckers today gots piles of things heheheheh and bought a manual finally.... No more questions Our wreckers here have piles of vehicles tonns of parts 90-97 pathfinders complete pretty much....

And it is a LOT easier to watch the lights if you take the passenger seat out. IMHO, it's well worth 5 minutes of wrench spinning to get the seat out of the way.

Just be sure to spray down the rear bolts, they go through the floor and ar exposed to everything underneath the car. When I removed my seats (replaced with Maximas) the rear mount bolts snapped off . At least they plugged the holes in the floor .

I'll second that! I found it a LOT easier without the seat in the way... and it's only four bolts holding the seat down, so it's not like it's difficult
