Cat help and trans fluid help

The Cat: I'm going to take the forums advice and replace the cat converter on the 93 VG with a high flow unit. My question is this: what unit is a direct bolt on replacement? And also this Pathy was delivered new in California from Concord Nissan. Does it have a different converter from the 49 state edition? Does it even make any difference since it's pre obd II?

The tranny: The trans on the 93 was rebuilt about 2000 miles ago by a national chain and has a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty. She paid $1800 ouch! My question is should I change the fluid to Nissan type C? I'm pretty sure they used whatever bulk shop fluid they had on hand during the rebuild. The trans seems to be shifting okay but I plan on keeping this one for a long time.

I have never seen a high flow that is a "bolt in", most just have stub pipes at either end so they can be used on anything.

As for the tranny, I would hope the shop would at least use the proper type of ATF, the Nissan type isn't the only one that will work properly, though most brands aren't fully compatable.

Any cat convertor will work, summit racing has direct bolt in ones for cheap. and use a good dex III/mercon fluid or atf+4. ATF+4 is a fully synthetic trans fluid that will work in almost every trans.

the magnaflow cat listed for your vehicle should bolt right up the Part number is 22760 and is listed for "California Pre-OBDll" anything rated for california is 50 state legal. the list price is like $250 but if you get lucky (like I did) you'll find one on ebay for $70. the pathfinder stock cat is terribly restictive (esp if it got cloged or melted) and when you look thru them both you'll see a big diffeance, hold it to the sun and you'll "see the light" lol you should idle smoother, get slightly better MPG and maybe gain 4 or 5 hp (barely enough to notice) depending how cloged your old one was maybe more.

speaking of which I should inspect mine since I got my injector leak fixed make sure the unburnt fuel that came flooding out my exhaust didn't melt it any.

PS you can recycle cats for money! there are precous metals used as the catalyst (platnum I think) just find the place that does it.

edit; don't be surprised if your magnaflow cat comes in a carsound box and doesn't say magnaflow on it. Its the same company.

Yep, my buddy just had his cat stolen. Apparently Toyota trucks are the most popular to steal from; very easy to get out...

I have a Pure-Breed German Shepherd female and a 'Coon-Hound / Beagle mutt. Between the two of em (both LARGE for female dogs) you won't stand a chance unless you have a decent sized pistol :P
