Snorkel Install

I installed this snorkel setup today http://www.geocities.com/pathfinderoffroad/snorkelmod.html

After the installation my nissan is running very rich, i.e. fuel smell from exhaust. It also revs a bit different than it used to. I think it feels quicker up to 4500 RPM but after that it lags going up to 5500-6000. Any ideas on how I can correct this, or does anyone think anything is wrong? I may just be freaking out about nothing. I know that there is an interesting air chamber that is removed to install the snorkel what exactly does this box do? (there is a pic of it if you follow the above link)

Thanks,

Joe

Each to their own, but I've always been skeptical of PVC pipes used for snorkels. They will fail you at the worst possible moment, and if you run a diesel, heaven help you!

While you can see at a glance wear and tear on the outside, its the inside that would worry me the most.

Another thing to be wary of is branches hitting it when wheeling in the forests/bush etc.

Having said that, good on you for giving it a go.

While I agree the standard white PVC is a bad choice (it will shatter easily), the black ABS plastic pipe doesn't shatter when it breaks and takes a lot of force to break.
