couple questions...pathy running odd

Recommended Posts

Hey guys got couple questions here,

I just bought the 3inch billstein lift from AC... whats the biggest tire size I can go with our rubbing/having to cut?

Is it normal for torsion bars to squeak alot on turning very sharp? Seems like everytime i turn my wheel all the way I get a bad squeak...

Rear arm that I believe controls the rear suspension snapped off.... any hints/ideas on how to go about fixing...?

My blower is same speed on 3 and 4 and sometimes doesnt work on 4... any hints?

My sunroof hinge/clamp is hanging loose any quick fixes for that? Seems like the inner bolts holding it snapped, or thread got loose...

Seems like the truck is burning alot of gas... more then usual... any critical points i should check?

Thank you guys, sorry for the questions im a noob

This one I can answer, I believe it is the steering stops that are squeaking. There are two of them to each wheel hub.

Have a look and you will see a curved channel looking bit of steel that the steering stop slides on at full lock. These need a smear of grease on them to stop this squeaking.

The left arrow is pointing to the stopper and the right arrow is pointing to the curved channel.

to further elaborate on this, also inspect your caps. if they are worn through (like mine were) you should replace them. I think all four of them cost me like 7 bucks. I not sure if they are redesigned or not, My old ones were plastic and the new ones were plastic with a metal cover. My old ones could have had the metal covers at some point and they could have worn off. also Like Kiwipete said keep the metal channel greased. This check to make sure you still have grease on them every time you change the oil or go wheeling. if there is dirt in the grease wipe it away and put some fresh stuff on. this will slow down the wear on the new caps.

you should be able to fit 32" tires depending on the backspacing. Keep in mind the 3" lift doesn't give you any more tire clearance. all it does is change the factory ride height. If you want to put bigger tires on, get a body lift too. 3" to be safe. I had a 3" sus. lift and ran 31" tires on my lego wheels for a while. it worked great until i got jealous of simon and skinnypedal's trucks ;)

post a picture of where your rear control arm has snapped. it is common for the stabilizer bar end links to seperate from the frame if there is lots of corrosion.

Bad fuel economy could be a host of things. Is your check engine light on? If it isn't, you could need a new air filter or your tires are not properly inflated. If the check engine light is on, you will ned to put your ecu in diagnostics mode. THere is a sticky on how to do it in the garage section somewhere.

oh and about the bumpstops squeaking; there are also a set of them on the back of each lower control arm too. They look almost the same as the ones on the front of the lower control arm.

Blower motor resistor is probably cooked. There is a writeup in the garage section on how to clean the area as it can fail and catch fire.

The sunroof, just start checking bolts and see if they are tight. Dont think thats to common.

If it using more gas, when is the last time you tuned it up? This time of year we get summer blended gasoline and it hits your mileage. Make sure there is nothing obvious loose or disconnected under the hood. Check ECU codes!

looks like the rest of your questions have been addressed......

as for tires..... it varies 9dunno why). i run 3+4" lifts and run 33's which rub..... mark runs 3+3 and 32's and doesn't rub at all.....

i would say max 32's,.

when was the last time you cleaned your MAF? changed/gapped your spark plugs? changed plug wires? cleaned your air filter (or changed it depending what you run), done a general spring clean under the hood? (look for bad vaccum lines/leaks/loose connections, etc)......

how about your exhaust/ what kinda shape is that in? and yer o2 sensor? cat? muffler?
