R50's With 4 Cyl?

I was reading some parts lists for my R50 Pathfinder and I came across some 2.4L 4 cylinder Nissan Pathfinders. Have they ever made them? If so, which year and country? And just out of curiosity, would the 98 Nissan Frontier 4cylinder from a 4x4 fit a 98 Pathfinder? Thanks

That is sort of a heavy car for a 2.4 4 cylinder. I imagine that they were sold in Europe, because some European countries have higher fees and insurance for larger engines.

Good lord I hope they would not put a 2.4 in a pathfinder. Atleast not a gas powererd one. I know they put diesels in them overseas maybe that is the 2.4 your thinking about. If you did put a 2.4 ltr gas engine in an R50 Granny would be passing you in her hoveround all day long.

The 4 cyl diesel was a 2.7 litre. It was known as the Terrano, not sure if they came in the R50 though

US R50's only got a V6 and no, the 4-cyl won't interchange AFAIK. You'd also need a 4-cyl trans for that swap.

 

In the US from 87-89 you could get the Z24i, but from 90-up they are all V6's.

Its probably referring to the hardbody with the 4 cylinder. Lots of the parts lists for that year are combined. Like if you go to pinnacle nissan and search for a 96 pathfidner it'll bring up 4 cylinder HB parts too.

I checked out a Toyota 4-Skinner before I bought the Pathy. It was a '98 with a 2.7 four cyl and auto trans. Man, what a dog! That thing couldn't get out of it's own way! Under-powered!!

There is a diesel 4cyl Nissan terrano, same as Pathfinder / QX4

How different is the drivetrain from a 98 Frontier 4x4 4 cyl. to a 98 Pathfinder V6? Is the transfer case the same?

I think the t-case is the same but the engine and trans are 4-cyl only items.
