What Should I Do To Lift My '97 Automatic Pathfinder?

I called O'Reillys and they said to ask on here if part number 4063 would work on a '97 pathfinder automatic body type R30. Any suggestions?

Welcome. First of all, your body type is R50. Second of all, I'm going to assume the part number you're referring to is a lift kit. Which company's lift kit part number is that? If it's a body lift kit, it will not work, as your truck is Unibody. No frame to lift the body off of. Pretty much the only place to get a lift for your truck is at 4x4parts.com They sell a 2" suspension lift that actually gives you closer to 3"

yeah sorry. i meant r50. and yes thats the body lift part number. sorry for the misunderstanding. so youre saying a body lift kit wont work? are there any other options?

Body lifts do not work with R50 Pathfinders.

Only option is a suspension lift, which is sold at AC

What would you lift the body off of? The R50 is a unibody, ie no frame, or as some seem to believe it is "intigrated" into the body. Body lifts work by lifting the body off of the frame, see the problem?

In your case I suggest a jack, the bigger the jack used the higher the lift.

i think i am just going to get the new coils for the 2" lift. thanks for the advice, ill keep you updated as i get the part and install it.

 

-- by the way, what is the best website for stock replacement pathfinder parts? i got hit last week and my back rear bumper and the back driver side panel above the bumper is ruined. :-/

i got the 2" lift coils, i want to put 32" tires on it with 18" wheels (from an armada) does that pose any problems?

also, do i need to purchase anything else to make the lift work? i realize i need shocks and struts, but are the mandatory at this time?

The bolt pattern should be the same, otherwise I'm not sure of fit.

the bolt pattern is the same and the center cap fits. i mean with that big of tires/wheels will it still work? and do i need to buy new struts and shocks now?

You might as well since you will have to remove the front springs from the strut assembly. Now is the time to do it along with new strut mounts. The rears shocks are a twenty minute job and should be done as well.

It's whatever the wallet will allow and the type of off-roading you plan on. Now is also a good time to do the Warn hub replacement (part #29091). Makes all the difference!
