I have just recently purchased a 94 SE and was checking out a bad aftermarket deck install. fixed the wiring but the AM reception is poor. (haha I listen to a local sports channel on my ride home). I just wanted to know if there was a Am signal booster in these pathfinders? If so what color would the wire be?

There's no booster, but there was an antenna in the stock windsheilds. My 93 is missing the mast part (long story), but still has the windsheild part, I ONLY get AM.

I dont know if they do this anymore, but it used to be that there was an (for lack of the correct term) antenna trim for am radio stations. You may be able to find the documentation for your stereo at panasonics website to tell you where it is and the proper procedure for tuning it in.

On my old pioneer it was accessed through the hole where the cassettes went in. One would tune to a station in the 1200 range then rotate the potentiometer to improve the reception.

If you cant find anything, post a model number and I'll see if I can dig up some info for ya.

My antenna mast is stuck halfway up so I get good AM from the windshield antenna and decent fm from the mast.

Well I'm replacing the deck since it eats cds. Hopefully that'll help.

Although, since it the windshield was mentioned, it was replaced in my pathy before I purchased it. Maybe the antenna was never hooked up? where would I look for this connection?

Not sure where under the dash it connects in, or where at the edge of the windsheild for that matter.

If your replacement has the antenna you can actually see it running right up through the center of the windsheild. You can see it on mine in the picture below, the fine brown line (this pic was before I broke my main mast antenna).

My 88 does't have the windsheild one, not sure if they even put them in on the older ones, but it gets AM just fine....

The antenna in the windsheild would have the wire soldered to the base of it, right in the corner, on the passenger side, where the A-pillar meets the dash.

From there, it is connected in with the mast antenna's wire, and connected to the deck.
