4wd Question

I have an '02 pathy and I noticed this past winter that sometimes it would have a hard time disengaging from 4wd. It has no issue engaging 4wd only going back to 2wd. I have the se with the stick not the auto dial. Could this be uneven tire wear? Sometimes it disengages right away most of the time not. Anyone ever have this happen on their pathy before?

That's normal. Nothing to worry about. When you disengage 4WD, there is occasionally a little bit of drivetrain binding (due to differences in front/rear axle speeds). The slight binding prevents the transfer case from disengaging. When the binding is relieved (by simply driving or by turning left/right, 4WD will disengage. This is typically more noticeable when on high-traction surfaces, such as pavement.

All the pathfinders I have had all do that, I just put it in reverse when I get off the trail if it's really bugging me. Most of the time I just keep driving and it diengages on it own.

+1 on that, when i finish (i do it in neutral) i go to reverse then back to drive and the light goes right out.

This pretty much happens to all pathys. I just put mine in neutral for a few feet while drifting, then back in first, and it goes away.
