Timing belt cog on crank - can it move?

-thnkboutit- -thnkboutit- Does anybody know how much this has happened. I just did my t-belt, tensioner, waterpump, thermostat, cam seals, and that obnoxious litte 2" hose. It would really suck if a $.50 part was what did my engine in. :oops:

Thank you. That picture is exactly what I needed to verify the design. I am still putting my money on a collapsed lifter, but this is number two on the hit parade.

Red do you need a crank???? Looks in Garage yep I still got that block....

I have kicked around the idea of rebuilding... and building, the original engine, but it was the lack of a crank that stopped the idea.

 

If you have an extra, I may very well be interested.
