shortysmash
i saw a thread a while back but couldnt find it again. anyway every few starts i get the sos light ( especially when its cold) and theres a rough vibration like its misfiring but as soon as the engine warms up it goes away has anyone had this problem with their 01 pathy
XPLORx4
It's not SOS, it's SES, for Service Engine Soon. Find out what the SES code is, then we can give more help.
FUELER
Go to autozone, lay down your credit card so you can rent an "OBD2 scanner" for free (they give your card back when you return the machine. Go to your car, plug it in under the dash, turn the key to ON and tell us what the scanner tells you.
Pavelow Leaks
autozone will check codes for free...at least the ones around here do...you don't have to rent it if you just want them to walk out into the parking lot and run your codes. shortysmash
ok like i said i got those 2 codes. well i replaced the spark plug and that didnt fix it. every now and then the ses light will flash and thats when i can feel the misfire and real bad engine performance. but other times the light just stays on and everything runs fine. has anyone else had this problem. one of the only other things that i could think that it could be is the coil for that cylinder. can anyone please help. Pavelow Leaks
wire? or do the r50's have coilpacks? Edited February 7, 2007 by Pavelow Leaks
Simon
01 with the VQ 3.5 has a coil pack. VG 3.3 has a distributor. In this case, a coil could be a very good possibility.
FUELER
I'm going to guess coilpack as well. Bad coils are a common problem on 3.5L VQ nissan engines.
navygz19
Yep, that's what it is, that IS a notoriously bad problem w/ VQ's. How many miles?? Edited February 7, 2007 by navygz19
