Impact Wrench Recommendations?

Anybody want to recommend an impact wrench for me? I don't have air. If cordless is good enough, that would be more convenient. Hand tools just aren't cutting it! I need enough power to change the suspension, CVs, drop the differential, etc.

Thanks.

I am not sure if they even make cordless impact wrenches? I do not have air either YET? So I bought a electric impact from harbor freight. Problem is it is huge and bulky but does the jobs I need. And it was like 30 bucks so when it burns up I will not be do disapointed.

I didn't have air until a couple of years ago. Holy cow what a difference. What the heck had I'd been waiting for. I'd start squireling away funds to start down that road. The compressor is the biggest big ticket item. Catch them on sale near the upcoming holiday. Air tools seem relaitively cheap in comparison.

Or just buy the compressor from Harbor Frieght and then buy the air tools from lowes or somewhere else. That is what I plan on doing, I know two buddies that have HF compressors and they say over the last couple of years they have had no problems, granted I would not use it for work but for shadetree mechanic type uses it will be just fine and save you some coin.

Milwaukee makes a 28V cordless that most of the junkyard guys uses here.

I always get my tools at a local pawnshop here if its reasonably priced and you can always talk them down on the price and besides pawnshops carries a lot of old snap-on. old snap-ons are the ones that you should be after coz those are the ones made here. The newer snap-ons are now made in taiwan. I was shocked to find that out last year when I picked up a set of box end wrench.

Youd come across some almost new stuff at a pawnshop for more than half the original price

Just this afternoon I picked up a 3/4 Snap-on impact wrench for $55 and it worked great. Its used but not abused. Sprayed it with some degreaser and cleaned it with Flitz aluminum polish and now it looks like its only been use a few times

Lowes also carries Cobalt's new line of air tools.

Its always a good idea to invest in some good quality tools coz youll be thanking yourself you did especially when you put those tool to a lot of use.

If you're looking for more power than what you can generate with hand tools, you want to be looking for a MINIMUM of 400 lb-ft of torque. Any less and you'll be disappointed. 500 or more lb-ft is really awesome to have for suspension jobs. And no, it's not cheap...
