93PathfinderWA
I would like to buy some rear tow hooks but i dont know where to put them. The obvious place would be to put them on what looks like a tow point, but the owners manual says not to tow using them. I read an old topic that made it sound like they used the meatl tabs with oval holes next to the gas tank. I was wondering if that is where everyone put theirs or had the tabs break (they are pretty thick)? P.S. I would post pics but cant find one of the cords for the camera, sorry. 94extreme
i have D ring shackles there. when purchasing some, make sure the cross bar is thin enough to go through those holes. got mine at TSC for $12-15/ea
88pathoffroad
I use my tow hitch. You *can* use those tie-down points, but they will bend if you pull sideways on them.
GrimGreg
I have a D ring in the hitch for my 93. On the 88 I notched the bumper and bolted a hook to the end of each frame rail.
the rig
Agreed with 88. I actually cut the oval tie down points off with a torch and ground down that entire area. I have a 02 xterra hitch so those needed to go to fit the hitch anyway. Use the hitch. It's a stronger more central area to begin with.
