2wd to 4wd conversion for '97 xe

I recently aquired a '97 XE 2wd. The only thing I dislike about it is the 2wd. I would like a 4wd vehicle. Would it be cheaper to convert it a stock 4wd pathfinder or sell mine and purchase one. I tried the search function to no avail. I am interested in just a straight swap to the factory Nissan parts. What am I going to be getting into?

Will need to just drop in the transfer case, new front 4wd end, or are there many parts that aren't 2wd to 4wd compatable?

I realize I would need to source a new console for the inside and a transfer case, driveshafts, plus the additional 4wd parts.

I was affraid the trans was different. What can I expect the difference in value to be between a 2wd and 4wd vehicle with all else being equal? Meaning, how much should i expect to shell out if I sold my pathy and bought an identical, but 4wd unit?
