  1. Stupid ?? no doubt. I am removing the tire carrier from my '92 4 door Pathy. It is heavy, ugly, and I want it gone. BUT! Is it as easy as it looks to remove? Hidden suprises are not my cup of tea, and I am stressed enough as I have begun the process of pulling the motor. it should be out by Wed. Can the tire carrier be removed soley from teh outside removal of the bolts, or do I have to pull interior panels off? Anyone done this task b 4, and how did you like the lack of the weight on the back of your Pathy? Thanks!
  2. -study- does this problem (balance and bushings) apply if the water pump is new but the other parts are the originals?
  3. :sniff: the link didn't work! Whuahhhhhhhhhh
  4. My boyfriend is an early Chevy man, and he said your timing chain is bad..or going bad. But he's miffed about the spark. Timing chain would cause the backfire, but the spark is what has him cornfuzzed a bit... short and skinny of it..check the chain.
  5. :o lucky you MM!! I need one!
  6. I'm in central Cali, and I run 10W 40 Valvoline all year round.... call me lazy, or a creature of habit. It's over 100 in summer, and gets to just about freezing, sometimes below in winter.
  7. I use whatever my boyfriend has on his computer. He uses IE. My computer isn't online
  8. I wish I had taken a pic of the Borla b 4 I sent it back to Summit.. but I was pissed. I have pics in my yahoo profile of the Thorleys. pathy4x4 is my yahoo profile. jan 24th is the big day when I start pulling the motor.... god help us all!
  9. Not where I live. Last 2 "cat-back" systems I had installed included the catalytic converter...... I must have been having a blonde moment to think I was actually going to egt a cat with the Borla system for $400 :contract:
  10. :X OK. since when (I guess since the last time I bought a cat-back) did a cat back mean from the BACK OF THE CAT back???? :X :X When my Borla arrived.. I was disenchanted indeed. No catalytic converter. So.. off back to Summit it went in the mail, and I found a (new) local shop that is willing to make me a FULL (cat included this time) cat back system for (around) $400. I am STOKED. ALSO! Good news... my Thorleys, not due to ship til January 21st.. arrived in January 12th!!!!!! WHOOOPEEEEEEEEE
  11. OWW!!! I felt the burn.... Mario Andretti.. rolmao. Good one. No.. I am not trying to be some "racer".. I just want good quality and for the system to last. I am installing it myself.. so I will not be paying any mechanics for installation. The price of the system is my final cost. I want a good sounding truck, with a asystem that will last. Not trying for any beauty or mine's -better -than -yours contest. I just know what I want, and am sometimes willing to pay for it. I would only waste the money on something stupid if I didn't spend it on my Pathy. I have a habit of doing that. And.. around here... they want $500 to build the cat back....
  12. yes. I will be relocating fer sure. The oil filter is a PITA as it is to get out.. without having the afdtermarket headers in the way. Good investment I think.
  13. We have a REALLY GOOD swap meet in a nearby town every January. They run anywhere (depending on condition) from $25 (yes $25) up to $200 for a front (or rear) bumper. The swap meet is always a good gold mine. I will be taking pictures during and after the install fer sure. Same when I install the exhaust system -alcohol-
  14. Yes, I already have a new O2 sensor ready to go in, water pump and timing belt. I heard the Borla system online.. OMG.. I almost S*#t!! I am going to have an orgasm if that's possible listening to my Pathy when she's done... after $750.. (full exhaust system) i better!!!!!!! Be the meanest souldin Pathy in town... now.. if Thorley would just ship my headers.. I will be looking at my cat back for about 6 weeks waiting for the headers to arrive.. oh the TORTURE!!!
  15. What I meant by my last post was this... it will cost me about $100 MORE to piece a cat back system together, than it would to be able to buy the WHOLE system. As I need a catalytic converter... it is a PITA and expensive to piece 3 different maufacturers parts together. I heard the Borla system b 4 I ordered it... and OMG.... I almost fainted with joy!
  16. -bounce- OK. So..just for anyone who is hunting for a full exhaust system for their Pathy.. here is some info I found out (to my great disgust). I have a 92 Pathy XE 4 door 5 speed. I bought the Thorley headers. NP. When I searched for a cat back system for my Pathy... here came the problems. Flowmaster only make the mufflers. Magnaflow only make the mufflers. A couple of other smaller companies only make mufflers for Pathys. BUT!!!! Thank god for Borla! They make a full cat back (smog legal) system for my Pathy for $401 out the door! From Summit racing. I just ordered them. Just an FYI for cat back shoppers!
  17. OK. So... Flowmaster AND Magnaflow do NOT make cat back systems for my 92 Pathy. BUT! Good news..I think.. I just ordered from Summit (to go with my Thorley headers) a BORLA cat back system for $401! Shipping tomorrow! They had 1 in stock....now..the looooong wait for my Thorleys... :sniff: So..FYI on the cat back systems should anyone be shopping for one. Borla is the only reputable company I know of who do one...
  18. OK. So now I know.... Flowmaster....Magnaflow do NOT make cat back systems for Pathy's. They only make mufflers..which is fine..if you don't have to smog your beast like I do. Just an FYI
  19. I am going with some tubulars from an early 80's Yota pick up, and will have my bf's brother weld them for me however I want them.... cheap n easy... I hope!
  20. -bounce- Great info guys! Thanks! Yeah... the O2 sensor pirces were crazy. I think the sensor for $112 is more like it. Thanks on the Magnaflow.. the exhaust situation has been stressing me out, as I require a SPECIFIC sound (as close to my 92 S-10 as possible..low..deeeeeep rumble) as I know if I can't get a complete cat back system.. it will cost me another $100 or so bucks..which I don't have to blow. I will check out the MSD wire prices. I just have to be careful what I use, because I have SMOG laws in Cali  . Also...are the stock pipes 2" and most members who did aftermarket exhausts are running 2 1/4" pipe? Will this affect my "smogability" at all?
  21. Welcome to the NPORA! -bounce-
  22. thank youguys. As for the distributor cap and wires.. I just want to know which works best. Yes..I was amazed at the price difference in the O2 sensors..and I found all 5 of them on partsamerica.com! (Kragen) Wondering bout that.... I just wanted to know if anyone had certain plug wires that seemed more reliable/heavy duty/longer lasting than "stock" wires and equipment. Yes, I think I will have to find a hole in the wall shop for the pipes.. no luck online finding a kit without the "goodies'.... HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!! -alcohol- (as she raises her Jack n Coke to all in NPORA)
  23. OK. So my Thorleys are on order...DONE...check off list... Flowmaster blew my sanity when they told me they DO NOT make a cat-back system for my Pathy..so..ok..after market cat..Flowmaster Delta Flow 3 muffler..ok...BUT... where do I get the dang pipes inbetween? Does anyone make a kit (all the pipes but no need to buy the goodies inbetween)??? So..then.. I start looking at O2 sensors...and they range from $22 to $112!!!!!!!!! What the.... so.. I am going with the Superwinch manual front lockers...decided on that. I want the Calmini 3" suspension lift.. but the price..OW! Ok. So..now it's down to plug wires, distributor and sensors..any suggestions on make? and suppliers? I want the best (if I don't have to donate any limbs to the cause) for my Pathy..she works (and plays) hard... also? besides water pump (decided onna Carter for this) and timing belt...what else needs to be done while I am doing the header install? BTW..she's a 1992 4 door 5 speed Pathy XE
  24. HMM....let me see.... sssh well..my biggest problem at the moment is the broken manifold bolts and the rude noise it exudes, and the fact that my Thorley headers aren't shipping until JANUARY 21st! (and boo to Flowmaster for not making a cat back system for Pathys)..umm.. front washer motor shot and dead.... one (haha..passenger side) vent broke and deceased.....still works with gentle manuvering...umm... tailgate lift shock thingys (brain fart forgot word) are losing their strength and almost dead (nothing a good pair of vise grips can't handle)..... springs are due for changing (lift coming soon) and torsion bars need a boost..getting that "old lady boobs" sag up front now... pulls to the right..but the idler arm is bad, and once I crank up the torsion bars, an alignment will be eminent... clutch going out (got one in mind and almost ordered) soo..all in all..for a 92 Pathy that has previously been crashed up front (finding this out as I work on it) she's a good ol girl! I love my Pathy and can't wait to get the headers on! -bounce-
