  1. I wish you luck and turboness for the future..and I wanna see pics!
  2. -bounce- sweet ride. I LOVE that color green..that's what color I want mine painted...I am sooooo jealous! WELCOME!
  3. I know my motor take 4 quarts..then the rear LSD takes 3.5 litres....
  4. "wicked nice" suprises are good. Glad you lucked out. My block and heads are fine, I did not have to replace anything but the manifolds, and with the new headers..problem solved. As for the parts run down, if you're just doing the job I am.. then this is a list of the following basics you'll need (what I bought): Water pump $100 Timing Belt $26 New Headers (my Thorleys came with everything you need to install them) $338 O2 Sensor $101 Clutch Kit (incl. throw out bearing) $179 Motor Oil Coolant Valve Cover Gaskets (if they're leaking) Have your starter motor checked and rebuilt or buy a new one (it's a PITA to get out without removing some stuff..better to be safe..) Oil Filter Relocation Kit (I got a Perma Coll from Summit) $45 Check all other belts for cracks and cuts (I replaced all 3 for $23) PB Blaster (2 cans at least! and USE THEM) $7 for 2 No doubt I forgot something... I bought a lot of other stuff..but no necessarily in regard to this job. This job is turning out to be a reaaaaaaaaal PITA. We went to pull the motor..and now we have to take more (big) stuff off.. I am disenchanted right now with it..but I know it will be like having a new truck when I'm done...just have to go through more hassle and time to get there! My boyfriend is good at making me look at the bright side of this..LOL  (I haven't found it yet....but sure I will once the motor is actually out) Here is the link to the pictures of what I've done so far...and how I did it. Neon sticky labels and zip lock baggies are fabulous! (That's what all the bright colored tabs are..I numbered everything I took off that I would not know where to put it back..be like paint by numbers going back together! lol) Very helpful indeed. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/pathy4x4/alb...hy4x4/my_photos -bounce-
  5. I am doing the job you are talking about right now (my maiden voyage into my motor, so far so good.. 2 broken manifold bolts out of 6 is good for what I thought was broken). I will be posting pics (somehow) when I am done with everything. If you get aftermarket (non Nissan) headers, such as the Doug Thorley headers, (you will not need to replace the manifolds as the headers take care of that problem), most everyone is running them (I have them too), the design of the Thorleys will cure the problem of the bolts breaking from bad design again. The will also offer more power than stock (better flow). I got mine (as most everyone has) from Summit Racing for $338 to my door. If you need any other prices, part numbers on the general things you will have to replace...I still have everything I bought (boxes/bags/etc) with PN's. ARB.com pretty much own the market on bumpers, and Calmini.com seems to be the best for lifts. Superlift also make good lifts for Pathys. rancho or Pro Comp both seem to work well on Pathys (shocks). Summit Racing's phone number is 1-800-230-3030 They are great. (their number is on my speed dial!!) LOL Good Luck!
  6. Yes, the boyfriend helped take it off...most useful. That thang IS heaveeee... I almost had a hernia setting it aside by myself. $250!! dang. I could do with that ..... I forgot to take a pic of my Pathy without it..but I think it looks better. I'll take pics of it tomorrow if it's not raining. personal pref I guess?? I saw the back lift up about 2" as soon as the weight was off. It took us about 10 minutes to get it off, with some PB Blaster (god's gift to mechanics), the bolts all but took themselves out. Here's the link to the pics from my slow, but careful motor pull. Everything but the bell housing is out..so motor will be removed tomorrow. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/pathy4x4/alb...hy4x4/my_photos
  7. sssh hmm.. so far, for the following (and a couple other goodies) it has cost me about $1,300. Clutch, Thorley Headers, Full cat, and cat back custom system (with Flowmaster muffler), Valve Cover Gaskets, Oil Filter Relocation Kit, Water Pump, All New Belts (including timing belt), New Rancho Shocks, New JGC Coils, Fluids For All Diffs, Tranny & Motor, Idler Arm, Washer Pump, Bosch o2 Sensor, T'stat, Plug Wires, Distributor Cap, P & P, and the usual goodies.. spot lights..tow hooks..push bar... and no doubt some stuff I fergot 2 mention...
  8. LOL. I know. Ijust figured it's just extra weight on the back.....and my 2 x 12's weigh 70lbs in their box by themselves to hold the back down some..LOL. I figure I can just put my spare on the roof.... I will let y'all know if I am selling or keeping. :gossip:
  9. :contract: I just bought the Rancho (5000) RS5116 for the rear of my Pathy to go with the JGC coils I will be installing. I had Pro Comps on my Jeep... (I know..I know) and they worked really well, and lasted good too. I figured I'd try the Rancho's this time... $76 out the door at Kragen, as i told them Summit was cheaper..they matched Summits price and beat it by$1 per shock..plus they had them in stock..sooo..you do the math..LOL GOOD LUCK!!
  10. TYVM! If I decide not to keep it after driving a few months without it, I will definitely post it here. Wonder how much it's worth?? sssh mebbe I should sell it just to help make up for the $$$$$$$ I have spent in the past month preparing for my motor pull work.....
  11. ROLMAO. I know I know...it was a loooooong day. LOL. "lickily" is my new word -bounce-
  12. ahh..thank you. I think it's just me. I started pulling parts off to get ready for the motor pull..and everything else seems to go wrong, but lickily, nothing with the Pathy..... :Magic:
  13. Welcome to NPORA! Hope u like your new Pathy, I bought my '92, 4 door, 5 speed Pathy (in Cali) for $3,600 in Oct 2003 with 113,000 miles. I love her!
  14. Stupid ?? no doubt. I am removing the tire carrier from my '92 4 door Pathy. It is heavy, ugly, and I want it gone. BUT! Is it as easy as it looks to remove? Hidden suprises are not my cup of tea, and I am stressed enough as I have begun the process of pulling the motor. it should be out by Wed. Can the tire carrier be removed soley from teh outside removal of the bolts, or do I have to pull interior panels off? Anyone done this task b 4, and how did you like the lack of the weight on the back of your Pathy? Thanks!
  15. -study- does this problem (balance and bushings) apply if the water pump is new but the other parts are the originals?
  16. :sniff: the link didn't work! Whuahhhhhhhhhh
  17. My boyfriend is an early Chevy man, and he said your timing chain is bad..or going bad. But he's miffed about the spark. Timing chain would cause the backfire, but the spark is what has him cornfuzzed a bit... short and skinny of it..check the chain.
  18. :o lucky you MM!! I need one!
  19. I'm in central Cali, and I run 10W 40 Valvoline all year round.... call me lazy, or a creature of habit. It's over 100 in summer, and gets to just about freezing, sometimes below in winter.
  20. I use whatever my boyfriend has on his computer. He uses IE. My computer isn't online
  21. I wish I had taken a pic of the Borla b 4 I sent it back to Summit.. but I was pissed. I have pics in my yahoo profile of the Thorleys. pathy4x4 is my yahoo profile. jan 24th is the big day when I start pulling the motor.... god help us all!
  22. Not where I live. Last 2 "cat-back" systems I had installed included the catalytic converter...... I must have been having a blonde moment to think I was actually going to egt a cat with the Borla system for $400 :contract:
  23. :X OK. since when (I guess since the last time I bought a cat-back) did a cat back mean from the BACK OF THE CAT back???? :X :X When my Borla arrived.. I was disenchanted indeed. No catalytic converter. So.. off back to Summit it went in the mail, and I found a (new) local shop that is willing to make me a FULL (cat included this time) cat back system for (around) $400. I am STOKED. ALSO! Good news... my Thorleys, not due to ship til January 21st.. arrived in January 12th!!!!!! WHOOOPEEEEEEEEE
  24. OWW!!! I felt the burn.... Mario Andretti.. rolmao. Good one. No.. I am not trying to be some "racer".. I just want good quality and for the system to last. I am installing it myself.. so I will not be paying any mechanics for installation. The price of the system is my final cost. I want a good sounding truck, with a asystem that will last. Not trying for any beauty or mine's -better -than -yours contest. I just know what I want, and am sometimes willing to pay for it. I would only waste the money on something stupid if I didn't spend it on my Pathy. I have a habit of doing that. And.. around here... they want $500 to build the cat back....
  25. yes. I will be relocating fer sure. The oil filter is a PITA as it is to get out.. without having the afdtermarket headers in the way. Good investment I think.
