That is the most annoying saftey device ever dreamed off!!! When you are in park you have to first put your foot on the brake to select a gear other wise it won't let you. If the ingnition is off and you want to take it out of park, you lift up that red lever and it lets you take it out of park. Pain in the A$$ all right!!! Pete.

Hahahaha!!!! Its called an "UN-AMERICANISING KIT" Pete.

My mysterious current draw over night was the regulator in the alternator. The other side of the switch is to stop me from leaving anything turned on over night if im out staying in the middle of know where. kinda hard to push start a auto!!
-
Its really hard to take pics of how i connected the switch up with out pulling every thing apart!! Heres a couple of where the switch sits in the cab!!

I know, I know!!!!! Tonight. I promise!! Some one wanted engine pics to. Get those at the same time i think.

Well, i ran the battery flat by leving the heater fan on with the key in the AUX position over night. (strange that the fan runs in the aux position) I then proceeded to wreck the voltage regulator in the process of trying to get it going. After two days in the work shop (thats what you deal with living pin head sized town) it came back. To prevent it happening again, i decided to go over board and fit an isolator switch in side the vehicle which cuts the negative to the battery. A bit of shagging around and i know have a giant red key on the consol next to the gear seletor. (looks very similar to the type you would give a baby to play/chew on) I suppose it has the added benefit of being a good anti theft device as you can remove the key, and if you have an accident, roll over or get cosey with a tree/rock while of road you can isolate the battery with out lifting the bonnet, which is easier said than done if it is all twisted and crunched hard up against a tree. I AM MAD I KNOW!!! Two leads run under the body above the transmission through the transmission tunnel, through two holes in the floor up under the center consol. I blanked off a coin holder thingy with a piece of aluminium, cut the coin holder out from underneath and screwed the switch down on top. At the battery end i digarded the old negative lead, ran one of the new leads to the battery, and the other two the body at the existing mounting point. I made up a third lead and ran it from the earth point on the body to a new point on the engine. Just a precaution as the cables were slightly lighter gauge than the existing earth lead, and about ten times as long. I was assured by an auto electrician that the extra distance current had to flow to get back to the battery wouldn't effect the starter preformance but initial impressions are that it is cranking slightly slower, and takes two rather than one compressions to start the motor from cold. So there you are, just so you know Pete.

Changing the Solinoids in a 93 Pathfinder with AT

Yes, but the mesh screen is in a case that is all shaped with a seal on one end and a pick on the other!! A whole lot more than just a piece of gauze/mesh. It becomes clogged with fine metal slurry after a while. Unbolt the filter unit and disgard it. Replace with the new filter unit. They are designed to be disposable filters. Pete. -
Sounds like an interesting idea. As for getting stranded with the vehicle in bits, well thats just the luck of the draw for a disaster such as the stud scenario. As for say the suspension project, im sure you could arrange package deals, say one week for $XXXXXXX, an over nighter for$XXXXXX, with the base rate of $30.00 or what ever you decide for those hours you go over the package deal. You could do the package thing on hours to. If you did it right you would make more for your self!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I totally agree with the word FUN !!! It would be hard case and humerous in my eyes to see models posing with pathfinders. Very american but funny still!! I think its hermerous as since when did you ever see such a thing?? Models and classics yes, models and competition vehicles yes, models and rice burners yeeeeeeeeeees, but a plain old second hand pathy with all its history, a few aftermarket bits and peices to make it go better and a calender dedicated to it with models posing, just as you would see in a classic car calender or a F1 calender or what ever........... You just got to see the good natured side of i reckon!!!!!!!!! Go Jim!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers, Pete.

Hey. No one has posted a reply and i was hoping they would as well as you!!! I will keep you informed on what happens with mine. I have an over drive niggle. Yours sounds like a common problem, as every tranny repair specialist i have talked to has said that they have never heard of my particular problem, but the tranny actually no shifting into over drive is very common. All they do is reset the computer on the tranny and it works like new again. If you havn't had this done yet, do it before you try playing with the solenoid. Sounds like an easy fix for a common prob. I think there is a botton on the computer, but i guess you could try dissconnecting the battery and then connecting it again?? -
Inspect using a tyre lever!! Put it between members and casings, check for movement and casing on member contact. Check exhaust mounts in the same manner. I expect it will be a rubber mount that has given up.

Hey. I was going to say just what jjdwyer said. we get that allot with people with their rally cars. They modify the air box, put on a pod filter, or come back from a stage and the car is fluctuating between 1000rpm and 1300rpm. It is always airflow meter or intake manifold related. The meters are very fragile, the maniflods prone to leeking through vibration, and even a air filter that has moved out of place in the standard air box will cause it. Its the computer confusing its self. The air flow meter is telling the computer that there is not enough air being drawn meaning the motor should be about to stall, so the computer dumps more fuel in to bring up the revs to draw more air, the exhaust sensor then tells the computer the mixture is to rich, so the computer stops pumping fuel through, the revs drop back, then the flow meter says their is not enough air flow so it all happens over and over again. He he, at least thats how i think the order usually goes.................... Pete. -nut-

I usually hate Forums and Chat groups, and here i am checking it each day. Adding my two cents were i can. I tend to agree that if you really think you need to include a certain level of profanity in your posts, then use abreviations or obscure characters. Has more of a humerous effect on the reader, but still conveys the expression or emotion that was desired. People are lead by example. Bla bla bla.......................... Its all good, keep it friendly guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pete.

In relation to the link: http://www.fly-n-hi.com/FST/nissanpathfinder.htm Just a observation, and correct me if im wrong but, The Mods are great, but the Pathy is now only two wheel drive. No where in any of the pics is there a front diff, or mounts for one, and no half shafts.l IFS systems will always be limited in travel due to the CV joints. You can make the suspension system capable of more travel but untill they invent CV joints that are capable of running at more accute angles we a stuck with what we have. Cheers, Pete.
