  1.

So I see that you converted your WishIhadmorepowerD21 to 4WD, did you just replace the transmission or did you swap the shafts and other parts as well? Should I even consider reusing my transmission if I go through with it eventually?

I did it both ways. Seeing how I was gutting the innards, I ended up rebuilding the whole thing. I would keep your original trans only and if only you had all the parts to do it. You would need the said shaft, the adapter housing and t case. Getting shaft is hard since it involves some slight disassembly of the front section of the trans to remove the c clip that holds the shaft in place.

Most people just buy the 4wd trans and tcase attached. Also I do not know the crossmember differences for the r50s.

  2. Just be aware you are going to be nickled and dimed to death doing a budget SAS build. Cost effective way is to know how to weld and make sure you have everything ready to go in one shot.

It would be a waste of a high pinion to go spring under.

Leaf springs are always the cheapest route of course and quickest to do. I know of a guy who can set you up quick and fast if you want to go spring over front and rear.

One day I'll go coils but until then my fine with what I have as I don't wheel much anymore.

  3. This is what it looks like inside the gas tank. This is the baffling that the pump kind of sits in.

Pictured here is my old rusted pump that failed and its replacement. The spring loaded bar pushes down on the bottom of the gas tank and "zeros" your fuel gauge. The float as you see does not actually touch the bottom as the pump area is actually lower than the rest of the tank.
