Ah, alrighty... I knew the SAS to be the British Special Air Service XD Next question - what's it do? I'll try googling it, but I think you guys could give me a much better explanation.
-
Trust me... they will. What's scary... is that they are spot on.
-
My father has a few things in the garage that will disolve rust... I'll ask him when he wakes up what he recommends. I warn you thought, it will actually disolve a small portion of the metal too. Edit - He actually recommends Navel Jelly (sp?) and a reverse tap set to remove them.
-
Yes... tell them you want ALL the parts they said they replaced... tell them that, should they be "unable" to give them to you for ANY reason, that they can collect the cost of the labor and parts for whatever parts they cannot produce to give to you from you in court, or they can forget about it. A lot of places try to rip people off like that... it's a damn shame

Do you use Injector Cleaners at all? Some of them are pure @!*% and shouldn't even be on the market... but the good ones do you a LOT of good. Bad quality fuel can do it to... and letting your tank go near-empty allows a lot of the sludge and @!*% in the bottom of the tank to get into the injector system... my truck had this problem a while... ran injector cleaner thru it 4 times in a row and it very quickly solved itself Also - tell them you WANT the old injectors...

I got the drivers side torsion bar done... took me 3 hours. Half of which was fixing the fact that it was installed slightly different and looked all wrong. *shrugs* The passenger side looks right and should be much, much easier now that I know wtf I'm doing
-
The only difference I know if is it helps prevent rotting of the inside of the tire from moisture because supposedly near-pure nitrogen air doesn't contain as much moisture *shrugs* I'm doin my torsion bars tonight... wish me luck! I start in about 10 minutes!
-
Little red light makes me think it's your alarm...
-
It was free *shrugs* the place I go to does Nitrogen inflation free of charge
-
Missing/Broken Cowl Vents/Grilles? Don't buy used ones!

How does one go about ordering these? -
... actually, yes it does. I didn't even think of that... this all started when I got new, all terrain tires... doh. I'm a bleeding idiot.
-
I'm talking side to side... like if I stand by the left side of the truck, and press on it, it moves a little bit. If I press really hard, it moves almost two inches or so.
-
My tires are properly inflated - i check that at least once a week and have nitrogen inflation (because it was free ) My truck does clunk a little, but nothing like what frame failure would sound like (we had an old dodge stationwagon where the left side of the frame, literally, pulled in two. That sounded... like hell.) That and, like I said, I'm 99.99% sure my frame is intact. Other than taking the body off the frame, I've checked it and my mechanic has checked it very thoroughly. As for the control arm brushings... that may very well be it. How will we know if they're gone? Will they move a certain way / at all?
-
I checked the frame, and it looks solid. Barely even any rust patches on it, and those are more towards the front end. I don't know about the control arms and brushings, but they checked out as good last time I had it in the garage (a few weeks ago). I'll have it go in if the problem doesn't go away once the new shocks are on. I don't know if I just never noticed it before or what... it seems the more I drive the truck the more I notice about how it drives and feels. *shrugs* Could it just be I'm simply getting more used to it?
-
Well, what I'm wondering is: My t-bars are both sagging terribly (max torque and they still don't give me the proper ride height... need to reindex them as soon as the weather permits) My suspension and shocks are an aftermarket setup that A) Isnt' gas adjust and isn't really the right set... it was the best fit at the time... my mechanic filled me in on it but I wasn't, and still am not, able to buy actual nissan parts. They'll do the job... just... yeah. so Couple those two together and I sit low... plus now the wiggle *shrugs* I think once I get the t-bars reindexed (or I may just order new ones... not sure...) and have a new alignment done, plus get the new, correct shocks and springs, things should be much better. *shrugs* time will tell
-
As for the other comments: This I guess has been happening over time... though it's gotten progressively worse quite quickly with the lack of good torsion bars (I still haven't had the chance to re-index them... damned weather and I can't fit the truck in the garage thanks to our dog's crates... parents... heh...). Could that be contributing?
-
The frame is intact, I've already made sure of that - was the first thing I checked. Got under there with a lamp and checked it out... cause that was my first concern. I tested it again today. It only moved about 4 inches total again. Looking at my first post I mistyped that. It can move about 4 inches total side to side, maybe less. I appologize for the misinformation ( it was a bit late at night so I wasn't really with it ) but yeah, i guess it's a non worry then I'll lookup info on the panhard bar and the brushings on the trailing arms, then attempt to check them myself
-
My back end is now able to sway, side to side, almost 2 inches either way (total 4 inches movement)... I'm assuming my anti-sway bar broke / broke free? Is this a problem? It makes cornering at any speed over 10 mph feel... loose. Comments?
-
What exactly are we talking about...? UCA's? Universal Control Arms?
-
Yeah, but it's a lot easier without all that weight on the suspension, right? I'm going to ask my mechanic if I can borrow his jack stands to use... he's a family friend, so he may let me. If not, I'll have to do it without *gulp*
-
If you have them do it, let them know you want to SEE the flywheel before and after the surfacing so you have proof they did it. Stealerships like to work on parts you can't see... that way they can charge you for work they didn't do.
-
I have a spare master cylinder I could sell you... it's from a 1990 pathy though... I'd give it to ya for free if I wasn't broke XD
-
Huh... that's odd. Any chance you still have a link laying around? I'm dirt poor atm (college... long story) so I can only afford to try this once and, with my luck, I'm liable to screw up: I'm looking at these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NISSAN-PATH...sspagenameZWDVW That's the guy you bought from... I'm assuming thats the same part? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/87-88-89-90...sspagenameZWDVW This guy has them slightly cheaper (20 bucks or so)... any advice?

Pathfinders have auto-adjusting breaks: Turn the key to POWER mode and take the parking break off (be sure to be on a level surface first) Depress the brake peddle FULLY to the floor (and I mean 100%) Repeat this... I think it was 7 or 8 times. Start the vehicle and drive it around a little. If they aren't to your satisfaction, check your fluid level - it should have dropped a little. Top it off and repeat the procedure. If they STILL aren't how you like, have a mechanic look at them or follow the suggestions that are sure to come from the more knowledgable members of this fine community!
