  1. For my welding class project, i want to set up a MINIATURE replica of the front end of the Pathfinder and do a MINIATURE SAS. To do this I need either blueprints or highly detailed instructions / pictures and dimensions so I know what the poop I'm doing. Yes, I'm doing this as practice for the real deal - One of my classmates works a lot on jeeps and did a conversion with a Dana...60 I think it was (or 66... I dunno, dont' remember off hand) and said he's willing to help me with my lift and everything when the time comes. My big thing is A) I have more important things to fix up and I need a new daily driver before I do this... I'm looking at the Nissan Altima now (goddamn that car drives like a fskcing dream!) so once I get it, the Pathy is being decommissioned for a total overhaul! The old girl deserves it for putting up with the @!*% I've thrown at her with my rookie, noobie ways. Anyway, what I'm wondering is - what would be the best way to get all the dimensions and prints I need to do this? Should I set up the entire front half of the truck, or just do the frame to UCA's and make the mini from there? Is this even really possible on this scale (I'm thinking 1/5th or 1/10th scale)?
  2. I know for certain I can't do the body work, and that's fine. I hope for now it's a once and done thing. However, mechanical things I want to learn to do. If it's possible I want to do it myself If it's not, I'll have a pro do it I'm hoping next week to start some more in depth stuff. I plan to do the oil+filter, plugs, wires, dizzy cap and rotor, jack her up and inspect the ball joints, grease everything up (my father apparently does have a grease gun, just need grease), check for any play, et al. The body work isn't going to happen for a while - just pre-planning that for my budget Mostly before that big hole in my ass end eats into my passenger compartment 0o'
  3. No play in the front end I have a metric @!*%load of rear-end sway... bad bushings and such XD I'm hoping to fix those... soon... but that involves getting money and parts and the like.
  4. I forgot about the one that came with the truck and jack XD I'm already shelling out ~ 500 for body work (having all the rust removed and true-to-form patches put in their place + prime and paint) so if I can check this on my own I'd love to Hopefully either tomorrow or next week I'll have time to jack her up and remove the wheels for a look see.
  5. She drives and corners like a dream... I can take off ramps at 70+ and she'll handle it better than my fathers jeep or my friends Nova... It sounds almost like driving over gravel... but always while moving slow. Dunno if you can hear it when moving faster but I can't because of road noise and the noise of air moving past the windows. Happens bumps or smooth... and the front end has no slack to speak of. Like I said - drives like a dream, but I think maybe my auto-hubs are stuck... *ponders*. And I don't have a grease gun Nor do I have anything able to loosen the lug nuts and re-torque them... no torque wrench and no air wrench right now.
  6. The noise is only audible when moving slowly (under 5 mph) but it ONLY happens while in motion - no ties to steering direction or direction of travel. That's why I think CV Boots.
  7. I have a funky noise coming from my front end - think my CV boot might be torn, but it looks intact. I know my front end is a LITTLE high, but it isn't distended as far as I can tell... How hard is it to check yoru ball joints and/or CV joints? And what would I be looking for?
  8. 3.39 Today at Costco... filled up my pathy for sure.
  9. I want to make sure I get the t-case and diff mate
  10. Well... here's the deal... being the utter idiot I am... my vehicle is now well over 50k miles without a transmission fluid change. It's at 150k miles... on all stock equipment including the tranny cooler. Don't get me wrong - she runs and feels great, sounds good dispite an exhaust gasket leak and a leaky gasket between my Y and Straight pipes... and she shifts beautifully... And I added Lucas addititive to the current fluid... But... I really, really want a good, professional drain, flush, and refill... no detergents but flushed with ATF. My question is... what potential problems will that unveil? My fluid still smells sweet and it's nice and slick... not abrasive at all and it doesn't smell burnt... so I'm guessing I'm okay. But I REALLY do not want to push my luck... I've been searching the forums... what is the best, and safest, Do It Yourself method tto flush 100% of the old fluid and replace everything?
  11. Erika... that is an Erika for sure.
  12. How about explosion welding *crazy grin* that looks fskcing AWESOME! Anyway, the area I need to take out is about 4 inches tall by 6 inches wide... thats from the small bit of panel BEHIND my rear drivers side wheel...
  13. We're still only doing Oxy Cutting yet... the welding part looks... insane.
  14. The fluoride isn't such a big deal until you get to a very high intake... but it'd poison you long before you got cancer from it.
  15. Trail, tthat's why I only drink purified water (brita filter), I don't even take Aspirin, and I make my own meals from organic food whenever I can XD

    HOA's

Maybe NE Seaboard HOA's just don't care then *shrugs* Dunno... And 1200 for painting the pole... I'd tell em to come take it by force. No judge in their right mind would award that, especially after proof of purchase for the repairs on the fence and showing the work he had done on the pole already. And if they do, I'd appeal it.

    HOA's

Not really... I lived in one for a short while... I say that because they left. Not too sure how it happened, but an HOA tried to set up in my neighborhood a few years back... most of my street told them to fskc off, but they wound up setting up anyway cause a lot of the older folks liked the idea. However, since we were there first, we weren't about to abide by their petty desires. And like I said - any HOA that makes unintelligable or otherwise outrageous demands has to be able to prove a legitimate reason for it... At least, that's how the US legal system used to work. Nowadays... eh...

    HOA's

Like I said, if they want anything unreasonable out of me, they better be ready to take me to court. I highly doubt most would honestly be ready to go that far, much less spend that kind of money on something like that. And if they were, I'd simply move my stuff the night before the court case and tell the judge "sorry, but I couldn't physically do it sooner because *whatever reason comes to mind insert here*" Be their word against mine, and as the problem's solved

    HOA's

What're they gonna do? Fine me? Good luck... unless they have US Law on their side, I won't listen to a word they say. If they try to bring US Law in, I have ways of making them out to be the bad guys *grins slightly* if there's one thing I'm good at, it's... persuading... people to see my point of view Got me out of a LOT of scraps, both in primary/secondary school AND with the local and state law around here.
  20. Maybe it was cause mine were so low... my big issue is I could barely fit under the vehicle on the creeper without jacking it up... then again, I am largish and have glasses which made things more difficult... and it was inside my garage which made things even more cramped *shrugs*

    HOA's

Slick, no offense, but I'd force an HoA to take me to court before I let them tell me what to do... and I'd make sure to make their lives miserable in the process.
  22. You'd have to be pretty strong to overcome: A) the weight of the truck the increased friction of the buildup on the bolts C) the limited working space D) the strange angle you will be working at
  23. That is a good point... *shrugs* For the most part, if it came down to it, it'd be a .357 or a .45 round hitting em. Anywhere in the upper body and they're toast if I'm not mistaken. I'm going to teach my fiance to use a little 6 shot .22 revolver since she's never used a gun... rather she knows how and never needs to than needs to and doesn't know how. And CQC is intense to the point of really screwing with you if you don't have any kind of training.
  24. I'm doing the Oxy first as it's an intro course - lower temps and less of a chance of burning yourself with an oxy than a tig arc. Once I've gotten familiar with those, he's willing to teach me some mig and tig before I take the actual mig and tig welding course. After that, I can take a stick welding course which goes into more advanced methods of welding.
  25. Sadly, the use of excessive force can result in you going to prison even when defending your family. My grandfather found that out first hand... thankfully he was let off with a slap on the wrist after a couple hours at the local station explaining what happened... that was years ago, but the laws, to my knowledge, haven't been changed. Otherwise, I would hit upper torso... threaten my family, deal with me. Sadly, america seems hellbent to remove the rights of citizens rather than those of criminals.
