LOL, ain't that the truth nunya... though there is a guy around me with an OLD silver Corvette... god that thing is sexy. It's the old body style with the curved front fenders and the sleek design... god I want that vehicle! Too bad the guy isn't willing to sell it for any price
-
if you crank it for, say, fifteen seconds at MOST< they should come out damp and you should smell fuel. If you don't, I'd bet that's a good sign no injector firing...
-
lol, nunya, if you're up for buying, I'll drive whatever you want to compare Untill I have enough for a high end sports car, her Cavalier is the sportiest car I can really compare with. I don't consider a suped up civic a sports car... it's a wannabe ricer that deserves to go for scrap in my honest opinion (we have hundreds of the wannabe racer ricers around here... ugh) As for that trucker - no, he was DEFINATELY speeding... limit was, I think 45, maybe 55 mph... he was doing at least 75-80.

What shocks do you use on your Pathfinder?

Where you getting the 9k's from, and how much? -
Easy way to get back a her - show her up, work harder than her, and when you become a supervisor, give her ZERO help and tell others to not bother helping her because of how she will treat them.
-
Crank it a bit, then check the cylinders for wetness... should be a good sign I think.

air filter is a brand new K&N, fuel filter is brand new (K&N again), MAF is, I think, clean... should check that. Spark plugs are older than dirt (at least 75k miles) but I have new ones to put in. Oil and filter are brand new (forget brand... it's a better one though) Cat, o2 sensor, exhaust, h2o pump, etc need checked I use, and love, lucas.... use it's fuel, oil, and tranny additives I have an exhaust manifold leak (the one that sounds like a sticking lifter) that I'm terrified to try to fix since A) she's my daily and I don't have anywhere near the right equipment... dont' have a tap, reverse bit, or even a decent drill (moved out of my parents house and in with my girl)

Aighty... I'm learning about some other things I never thought of: Greasing U-Joints, CV Joints, Auto-Hubs, Tire Carrier Joints, Ball Joints, etc... My question is this: At least the last 50-75k miles, I haven't done ANY of those things. The only things I've really done are oil changes, topped off random other fluids (tranny, break, etc) and the other "minor" things... Should I replace some parts at this point? I have noise coming from either my hubs or my CV joints or boots... I think my front hubs are stuck locked Planned fix are the WARN manuals once I can afford em. Anyway, case in point- would it be worth it in terms of vehicle efficiency to replace the CV joints, U-Joints, hubs, ball joints, and the like with new ones and then maintain them? Would that help boost my mileage a little? I also have an exhaust manifold leak due to broken studs... have not had the chance to fix that... cash and time things. All in all, would doing this boost my fuel economy anything worthwhile? And is it worth doing as preventive maintenance?

If I want to fly... no... I won't get that *grins evilly*

LOL, precise, I know mate. I've been in far better cars... but of those I've driven that's what I can compare. Cars I have driven: 1990 Nissan Pathfinder (v6) 1995 Chevy Cavailer sport (straight 4) 2001 Subaru Forester (4 banger version) 2004 Kia Rio (piece of fskcing @!*%) 2004 Toyota Camery (4 banger) The idea I was getting across is that my truck pulled far, far better than I expected for a then 16 year old truck. I had only been driving it... maybe 3 months? EDIT - and yes, I know... if I had been in a Ferrari Enzo or anything similar, I would have been a mashed splotch on the landscape had I done full throttle on that road.
-
the engine is actually cranking? In that case - look at the fuel system. Crank but no fire means either no fuel, no air, or no spark.
-
*laughs* none mate... I burn absolute zero. I don't hit my red zone till... god, at least 6250 RPM, solid red at 6750rpm. I've only once hit 7k rpm, and I HAD to... blind turn onto a highway (forget where I was... somewhere in bumblefskc nowhere PA) with a blind hill not 50 feet before... looked as best I could, was clear. Was 3/4 of the way thru the turn on when I see a big rig coming up FAST. I just put the petal to the floor and held it there until the truck stopped gaining on me... damn bastard was laying on his airhorn the entire time. I reckon he was doing about 85MPH until he saw me... I'd bet I was up to 75mph or more in 2nd gear from the acceleration. Like I said though... it was literally do or die. And I must say, Sheila (my trucks name is Sheila, shut up )... she handled it well. Accelerated like a goddamn Ferrari! That truck drives and handles as well, if not better, than my girls Cavalier... and she has the sport model (2.4L DOHC Straight 4, et al addons) I am pretty much on part with her for straightline acceleration. And like i said - I burn zero oil... stock tranny cooler still due to having no money, but it's clean (my mechanic flushes the cooler itself for me for free, said he's willing to due that till I can get an aftermarket one) so yeah And no, I don't hold it near redline for long... normally I only just pass 3,250 rpm when accelerating.
-
Exactly Simon... I can control my entire shift range that way if I want. Generally, though, if I really, really need to pull - I'll be above 5k rpm until I hit highway speeds... normally I only do that getting on the highway because A) We have non existant run-on ramps and Truckers here in PA love to run up yer arse and then hit the air horn... oh, and C) It pisses off 'vettes and mustangs that try to squeak past me on the inside as I keep pace with them and force em to drop back and wait their damn turn... KNOW YOUR PLACE YOU NON NISSAN POS! BWAHAHA! After I hit speed, my RPM will jump from up to 6k to about 1.5-2k lol... but the amount of acceleration it gives is just astonishing! 'Specially for an 18 year old 3.0L V6!

Good point Kiwi... This is why you don't get recon starters... they're stupidly simple complex pieces of PITA equipment nobody seems to recon right anymore
-
How do you grease a U joint... not to sound stupid but 0o'
-
PFCFNG, you know you can control when the auto in the pathy shifts, right? Pedal control
-
Do you know the starter itself is turning? Do you hear the fuel pump kick in? Try getting a jump start - if that doesn't work, assume starter. Pull it and have it tested OR test with a known good starter.
-
hm... what happens when you turn the key? Almost sounds like start solenoid or a bad starter... how do you KNOW the starter is good? Spring for a new one... that remanu**cked up one will leave you stranded.
-
Go 4+4 and cut away and I'm sure you can run damn near any tire you want... just won't have much power left unless you re-gear
-
replace O2, clean the MAF, compression check maybe... any other symptoms beyond terrible mileage (and what's terrible for you?)
-
auto or manual?
-
I like my auto because, to be honest, it's just easier for me since I'm a young driver. I'm learning stick... but yeah. I'm so fskcing scared I'll slam into reverse from 5th instead of into 4th XD
-
*chuckles* lol, sorry. I typed that like five minutes before I went to bed last night. It's a very solid WD21, same as my truck all around except for some mild differences, mainly that, well, it's stock, the sway bar in the rear isn't broken like my trucks, it has zero rust (unlike my trucks standard cancer), I believe it's 84k miles, auto tranny in good condition. Previous owner traded it in due to mileage concerns (he got a hybrid altima I believe) but yeah. I already have someone looking at it *grins* one of my friends just had his Ford Taurus die, so I'm going to initiate him into the world of Nissan and bring him to see the truck today
-
The local dealership near me has a MINT '95 pathy for sale. Cherry red, no rust at all, only thing wrong is missing fog lights... asking price is 3800 for the truck as is. I REALLY want to see this go to someone responsible... I live in Harrisburg PA, so if anyone is interested, let me know. Hell, if you want, wire me the cash and I'll buy the truck FOR you so you don't have to worry about someone else sniping it!
-
Maybe all the thing is doing is putting back in some of the power lost when you add Ethenol to the fuel? I know my mileage spikes when I use non Ethenolated fuel... but the only station around me that has that is a good fifty miles away
