  1. my reply is in bold At this point, I'm looking at trading it in. The car has been nothing but trouble so yeah... I got a decent deal from a Subaru dealership today... 2001 Subary Legacy w/ only 41k miles. Bought from that shop back in 01, used by a little old lady for "Meals on Wheels", and then traded in for a newer model of the same car. It is IMACULATE! Beautiful car, All Wheel Drive, 2.5L Boxer engine w/ Cold Air Intake, ABS, Traction Control, Power windows/locks/seats/moonroof, and the test drive was grand. Currently at 11k with the trade in of the Cavalier (which includes the 2k she still owes on the Cavalier) Yeah... that's a steal. Going to try to work out a viable payment plan.
  2. There is only one way I know of to do this... and it involves a JLBX Anti Theft Bypass module as dictated here http://en.allexperts.com/q/Auto-Theft-Prev...r-Racecar-2.htm I've seen multiple sites mention this... but yeah, it only works if you can CURRENTLY starte the vehicle...
  3. Got an "update" if you'd call it that... I had the car towed into the shop to have them look the Anti-Theft system over... that was at 9 this morning... Round 3 this afternoon they called me... They were digging around in the wiring harness looking for corrosion between the connection from the fuel pump harness and the main wiring harnes... Reason being? the OBD2 system showed no anti-theft codes and there was no consistant voltage going to the fuel pump. NO @!*%. The Fuel Pump Relay won't complete the circuit with the anti theft sytem engaged... it says that in the damned owners manual (which we managed to find online). They want over a thousand dollars PLUS 6 hours worth of labor... I told them to put the car back together and leave it alone. I also told them that I was a might bit upset as to why they didn't even TRY to reset the anti-theft system as that is what the problem is, as is evidenced by the fact that the telltale light is on... *sighs* I hate stupid people... and I hate them even MORE when they cost money... I might wind up not paying them anything beyond the diagnostic fee and tell them if they want it tough @!*% because they when ripping around into other parts of the vehicle without permission when I explicately told them to call me before doing ANYTHING else. [/rant] Anyone want a non-functional 1999 Chevy Cavalier Z24 w/ 2.4L DOHC engine? Would make a grand parts vehicle... *grumps* Edit- Wow... they just called me again... The mechanic said, and I quote: "I can't reset the anti-theft system because it is not possible to do so until I can start the car." Does ANYONE else see the problem with that...?
  4. Thing is, the security light is just on, not blinking. Did the same thing last time this happened, except the reset thing worked. Trying again today but meh...
  5. So my fiance's Cavalier's battery died... no big deal, replaced the battery... But it set off the anti-theft system (WTF?) So now I need to reset it... but I don't really know how and we don't have a manual... and there isn't a haynes manual at any shop near here. I'm trying something I found on google, but after an hour no luck... fskc anyone? Please? She NEEDS this at 6 am tomorrow. No time to get it to a shop... or call a stealership!
  6. Lol, well, I am light on my feet (I dont' go stomping around on it), but I do weigh in at a heafty 250 pounds... I've had a big rig loose the 2 inch thick slab of ice that covered the top of his truck directly in front of me. I dont' want to know how many pounds tthat come in at, but it slammed STRAIGHT down onto my hood and windshield with enough force to compress my front shocks and hit the bump stops. It scratched up the clearcoat real good and left a small ding in the windshield, but that was the ONLY effect (thank god). Granted, i thought it was going to come thru the windshield and kill me... but itt didn't. My truck is 5 years older than yours... dont' know why that'd make a difference but...
  7. I've walked on my pathfinder... from teh bumper, up the hoodd, over the windshield, and onto the roof. it's... how I wash it Granted, I'm barefoot at the time (I'm not completely stupid), but it doesn't dent at all...
  8. Well, let me put it to you this way: My mom's rio... has a dent in it from where my little brother (at 80 pounds) sat on it... It also has a small problem where, 3 weeks after purcahse, the interior trim started falling off/apart.
  9. Oh, the car is certainly peppy enough when you have the AC / Heater off and the windows shut and the stereo off I just think it's a POS cause 1) it's so weak under the hood and 2) It can't handle even an inch of snow properly.
  10. Hm... what kind of metal does he use? It's not just normal plate steel is it?
  11. They've held up for what I've needed them for so far... but my question is can I base the actual sliders off of them and use their frame-mounts to mount the sliders?
  12. Hm... the sliders sound like an idea. Should I build them to replace my current step-bars? Those things are decently well made (think they're 1/16th inch steel or 1/8th inch steel, would need to measure) but yeah.
  13. Already have a good bumper and the tire carrier unfortunately. Rock sliders... what kind of metal would i need for that? See, problem is, I need to supply my own metal and my budget is... tight... is an understatement.
  14. This is a 1.5L hampster-driven POS... it, literally, can NOT hit 65 MPH in time to merge on the highway with the air conditioner on... and cannot hit 75 PERIOD with the A/C on...
  15. Aight, well... her CEL is on and there is a noticable tick coming from it. No power, hesitates to rev even w/ the clutch depressed, and sputtering. She's about 3 months overdue for an oil change, BUT her mileage is still almost 500 miles under the number indicated... then agian, she does city driving mostly so I guess it's moot point. I checked her oil level and sure enough she's showing about halfway between full and low. However, I could not see any oil in the fill area and it was HEAVILY uhm... the translucent brown @!*%... shelaced? No... you know what I mean. When oil breaks down and goes all hard and @!*% on the metal. So yeah... it's under warrenty still so we're bringing it into shop... just kinda curious if anyone knows what it might be. We added a quart of oil and it reduced the noise a lot (hydraulic lifters?) but it still won't rev or power right. *shrugs* Oh and before anyone says it - yes, I know it's a POS Korean car... that gets stuck in under 2 inches of snow 0o'. I hate that thing, but she loves it cause it gets like a million MPG and is great for her little around town hops.
  16. We have something like that... but I think it only cuts and punches
  17. I'd need to fabricate brackets and such if I'm not mistaken, as well as the ribbing I want to do
  18. What's a break press o0; Lol, this is my first welding class, but I've excelled in it decently well so he's trusting me with the TIG and MIG machines should I need em, and I think I'd be better off on either stick or mig for welding something like this.
  19. The US could increase our production over three fold if we would explore shale oil and coal oil...
  20. *tilts* Who? Sorry, i won't deny that my knowledge of world history is limited to what I've read on my own... our schools round here portray the US as World Heros... meh...
  21. I need to see if I can't find some better images of it - I want to pre-design this in SolidWorks or AutoCad first so I can test it
  22. My issue is this: We give SO MUCH MONEY in aid supplies and cash... Yet only one country really adled up to help us when we needed it... the UK. Our LONGEST STANDING ALLIES PERIOD. And even then, their general populace aren't happy with us.
