  1. Like it says.. doing water pump timing belt and thermostat.. everything is going back together nicely..except that darn belt! I've got all the markings lined up on the motor but the belt just won't line up to them (white stripes, dotted line) Everything i can find says these marks MUST line up.. is this actually true or can i just line it up as close as i can and proceed?
  2. No worries there Terra.. an alt. swap is on "The List" A 1000w amp and 2x10's are too hard on the stock set up as it is. I've decided to take the truck off the road for a year. The money typically spent to keep to it going will be spent on repairs and/or upgrades... I've been running it stock, on 31's, for 8 HARD years now.. dd and weekend warrior. I love my ride..and with kids almost grown, and being single again, we're both ready for the next steps. The plan is to get some info and decide if the motor is worth keeping or needs replacing.. the truck itself is in very good shape and worth rebuilding. A small body lift, beefier steering components, shocks.. all the fun stuff to accommodate bigger tires. AC goes out, onboard air goes in? I think i'll start a build thread for myself. Would that go in the garage or where? It would be a good way to keep track of everything i want to do/have done, as well as gathering info from the multitude of minds here at NPORA!
  3. That's quite the idea Ski... I've thought about on-board air a time or two in the past. I'd feel better re-using it than tossing it away too! As for discharge laws.. i already plan on having a mobile unit come and deal with it. I do try and be enviromental where i can. Although, while driving a thirsty little 4x4 and spending every extra dime on parts, insurance and extra fuel (i do use mine off road).. i like to joke about my carbon footprint being jurassic in nature
  4. Hello all.. as stated, got a 93 that i've taken off the road and putting some work into. Looking at a new water pump (why its off the road) timing kit, an electric fan conversion and possibly removing the AC system. I have found gobs of info for both timing and water pump. Even glanced something about a fan swap.. i'll be looking into that some more The only thing i cant find info about is removing the ac. Tons to be found about putting it back, diagnosing and repair it. As near as i can tell from common sense and the teardown manual.. it seems fairly straight forward. Guess i'm looking for opinions and/or info from the knowledgeable Nissan nuts around here
  5. Has been a loong time but i need to ask the resident experts for help. Before you bombard me with with "search you idiot".. i have been trying. No luck yet.. Also unable to find anything in the teardown book The interior lights are staying on (d'uh). This came up right after putting shocks on to hold the rear door up. i'm sure there is a switch in there somewhere..? if you push on the door near the latch the lights go out for a minute but then pop back on . Turning them off works for the passenger and cargo areas but the floors stay lit up so i've been disconnectoing the battery for the last couple nights. Any and all help is appreciated. Thank You
  6. Where in bc is ya?

  7. I run a '93 SE with over 235,000K and that switch still works.. Sport makes the ride a little stiffer, Touring is a softer ride. i think the best way figure out the LSD switch might be to turn it "on" and lift up yer rear axle and spin a tire..see if both wheels turn the same direction.. i dont have the lsd switch..i just lifted mine up to see if i had the lsd or not. If im wrong im sure someone will correct me Folx around here KNOW about Pathy's
  8. the Manik bushbar is what i had on mine until some (expletive deleted) stole the truck and stripped all my goodies. It looked great...but i found it to be more hinderance than help. Installation requires removing the front tow hooks and the bushbar wasnt very strong. I bent it pretty quickly when i had to use it as a recovery point. After it got bent i had a miserable time tryin to keep it from rubbing on the corner of the truck and even gettin to the hood release. I'm curious to see if any mods will take care of those issues.. keep us posted
  9. got everything fixed up...pulled the stereo out and found some uncovered wires. Seems my bro cut off one to many harnesses and forgot to cover the cut wires from it. i'm guessing the dimmer was connected to that somehow? maybe? in any case..i dont consider it a great loss..i got my lights without blowin fuses and i got a cd player in my pathy..im good!
  10. Finally got an aftermarket cd player for my pathy... Instead of going in to the shop and having it put in my brother convinced me that he could do it for me. Yesterday we found the wiring diagrams from installdr.com (search works!)..got it all hooked up..tossed a couple Alpine 5x7's in the rear. Everything seemed to be working alright. Lost of the dimmer switch for the dash..but who cares, right? This morning i went out and started the truck..everything still worked fine. I got about 2 blocks down the road and lost all my dash lights and marker/running lights. Before i went into work i tossed a new fuse in the box and tried again. The lights lasted about 5 seconds and blew the fuse again. Anyone have any ideas? i dont know anything about wiring and electrical..thats my bro's deptartment. But any info i can pass on to him will greatly increase my chances of gettin it all back to right. HAAALP!!!!!!!! Skwerly
  11. hmm.. i don't think i got my question worded right I had figured it'd be a swing out carrier... but the pathy opens out to the right and the jeep opens out to the left (have i got that right?) Which direction will these ones open? I'm just curious...
  12. those look really good.. will the Pathy version of the tire carrier swing the same as the Jeeps or will they be flipped to swing as i'm used to?
  13. Off topic..i know i know..but 5 bux fer a pack of smokes?!?! i'm in the wrong place!!
  14. Aw Hell No!!!! Thats just a nasty thing to do to an innocent pick-up.. and for that kinda money..i'd think the interior would be done too!
  15. I tried my a/c for the first time yesterday (got him last Oct)...cant stand it myself but the wife an skids were complaining. Holy power loss! I couldn't believe the difference!! Let us know when/if you do the 'lectric swap and if it makes any noticable difference..
  16. Have you checked out www.4x4parts.com you should be able to find everything you need for whatever you want to do.
  17. Just filled Marvin(93 SE) this mornin..143.9/l, 90-sum bux.. almost 50 km's to and from work. I just slow down, go light on the skinny pedal and use the wife's Olds Acheiva for errands and shtuff. I knew when i got Marvin i was gonna pay thru the nose for fuel, insurance (ICBC crooks) etc. I'll accept it and be on my way..It's worth it to have a decent, capable 4x4 that hauls whatever i throw at it!!
  18. Tons of info..thanx all!! As i had posted originally.. i drove p.o.s junkers and didnt care enough to lok after the interior as the would usually be gone in 6 months or so. I like my leather interior..but i have no experience keeping it healthy..i noticed a short while ago that the "wrinkles" weren't comming clean (i used just warm water) so i asked! I dont want anything to be really shiney..i just want it to last. Incedentally...skip Meguire's.. it might have made the seats shiny and "squeeky" but it didnt do much for cleaning them. Thanx again all!
  19. After years of driving crappy, near dead junkers (and not caring about them) i'm now faced with a leather interior. What i'd like to know is A) How often should i be cleaning/conditioning the seats and What products are best suited for it(in your opinion) There are no rips, cracks or any real damage to the seats..but they're REAL dirty and i'd like them to be grey again! Thanx!
  20. In 2 wheel..no worries. It wouldnt be any different than a "hotrod" set up. If you do it that and use 4..you end up overdriving the front end. The front wheels will spin faster than the rear.. not so much good for it.. things break that way.
  21. Until the mud gets it?? Isn't that when our Pathy's look their best???
  22. the adjustable ride system (shocks) works by putting pre-load on the shocks. If you flip the switch to "sport" the truck should feel stiffer...you'll feel a bit more of the road. As for how to tell if they're dead or dying.. if there is no major handling problems to tell you..step on the bumper, hop off and watch how many times the truck "bounces" before stopping (works for both ends) if it goes more than 2 or 3 you should get them checked.. For checking 4x4 - Find a polished concrete parking lot (i went to SuperStore) put it in 4Lo..you should feel the steering get "heavy", turn the steering to one side and give it a bit of gas. The front tires should make a kind of chirping noise. You should also be able to feel the grab from 4x4 pretty easily that way too. I'm drivin a stock '93 and haven't found anything to stop it..on or offroad.
  23. I'm curious to see what else they do to it. They build some nice lookin stuff when the mood strikes them and i get to find company names (like Calmini) and maybe get some ideas for what can be done with/to mine
  24. I've owned my fair share of cars over the years..the Ford's always sucked. Let them dig thier hole..after crap like this ford fans are going to disappear..and reappear somewhere else as they find new cars/trucks that, typically are far superior products.. Flip Over Read Directions
